If someone in the modern day had the power to heal the sick by touching them, raise the dead( not a few minutes dead but weeks or months dead) and control the elements and if they claimed they were God would you believe them?

Thats pissed me off when I was a Catholic. Thanks to myself and my beliefs I'm now a atheist or agnostic. I don't have a belief because God doesn't exist but this question still bother me! I know the Catholic monarchy is a man-only monarchy! I would go to church if a woman was proclaiming the word of God! but that would never happen! I know women can be nuns or deacons but thats only a secretary=nuns and a manager=deacons in a big business!

I have heard this happens often with atheists, skeptics, critics, etc. I am interested to hear from the Christians now. When have your religious-based questions been deleted?

According to Genesis, women must experience painful childbirth to pay for the crimes of Eve. Does modern medicine go against God's plan?

All religions can't be right, a Muslim will believe in the Koran as much as a Christian believes in the word of the bible. There's an obvious contradiction, so should the measure described in the question itself be put forward?

I know a lot of Abrahamic religious folk go into a seizure over people engaging in "alternate lifestyles".

The question is, what's normal?

I'm 33, single and have no desire to have children. That's "alternate".

I haven't touched an alcoholic beverage in about 10 years, and probably have 3 times in my entire life. That's "alternate".

What is alternate? Or is it just a euphanism for "those gays".

Survived by making war with neighbors, taking them as slaves, raping their women, punishing disobediance with death (including child), placed very little emphasis on knowledge, considered women to be property, and considered all outsiders to be arrogant and worthy of death... what do you think your god would look like?

If you lived in a society that treated people as equals, no one was the property of anyone else, making war was considered wrong because it disturbed the peace, learning about the natural world and everything in it was considered virtuous, punishment was dealt in a manner that reprimands and promotes better future behavior or separation from the society (as killing was never an option), and outsiders were viewed as resources from which greater knowledge and greater good could be gained... what would your god look like?

Which god would be more peaceful? Which would you rather serve? Would you ever take the less peaceful god and bring it into your society? Why?

and if you can't (for the believer's), what created the Creator?

since i'm sooooooo ignorant. please explain the trinity to me. enlighten me if you will. explain to me how 1+1+1=1. please keep in mind, i was a christian for 25 years of my life. so most of what you tell me is something i already believed at one point in my life. i'll admit, it made all the sense in the world when i didn't bother to question it. and when people would ask me just as i'm asking you right now i would call them ignorant even though i realized it wasn't such a dumb question. so go ahead. i'm waiting.

To have few possessions.

Why save money? Why invest? Why own anything? Jesus didn't do any of that.

When I went through the Salt Lake Temple on my buddys temple recommend I saw all kinds of occultic and Masonic symbols. Lots of inverted pentagrams which are sacred in witchcraft, not to mention the all seeing eye and a few others that may have other meanings. The inverted Pentagrams were also clearly visible from the outside of the building as well. Any Satanist knows exactly what they mean, I am just wondering what your church teaches you that they mean.

"Oh Lord we thank thee for a prophet......"

The first soldier from our small town died in Iraq. His funeral is this weekend and Fred Phelps and his freaks (Westboro Baptist Church) have announced on their website they are showing up to protest and have faxed plans to the local police department.

I am looking for a simple, quiet, nonconfrontational, loving counterresponse to their vile hate. Any ideas?
