"The effects of people like Jerry Falwell (rot in hell) and the intolerance and hate that they spread..."

"rot in hell"
Yeah, that's not hate at all. (sarcasm)
Also, I think this person claims to be an atheist. If that is true then why would you tell someone to rot in a place you don't even believe exists?

I didn't like Jerry Falwell any more that this person but, come on...if you expect us Christians to "practice what you preach" shouldn't you do the same?
You could be setting a good example for us to follow...just think of the lost opportunity...*sigh*....so sad.

Out of curiosity, how many of you have been exposed to, or have been offered a system of religious beliefs, exercises, and traditions but NOT the presence of the living God?

I personally believe that religion makes no sense without God's living and active presence. Without that, it would feel like being bound by arbitrary rules and regulations. Ugh@ that.

Is there such a thing called a Christian Hustler? For instance, Jimmy Swaggart, Pat Robertson, etc.

I was raised Southern Baptist (born again Christians) by my parents. I remember there being lots of Fear and Fire and brimstone sermons.
Once I became an adult I turned completely away from that whole thing. I cannot believe in a God that would send me, or anyone to hell. (I do believe in God, but not that God).
Now, please keep in mind that if that is what one does believe....well that is their choice.
I just don't understand why you would want anything to do with a God that would send you to hell?

In Matthew 16, Jesus makes the statement, "You are Peter...and upon this rock will I build my church"

Peter (petros)....means small stone...or pebble.
Rock (petra)....means bedrock...or solid ground.

In the preceeding verses, Jesus asks the question, "Who do you say that I am?" And Peter answers, "You are the Christ...the Son of the living God".

This is the "solid foundational truth (petra)" that Jesus was referring to.

He never said He was going to build His church uopn a fallable man like Peter.

So what say you for thinking this?

4:157:
"And because of their saying (in boast). We killed Messiah 'Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah," -- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of 'Isa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man)..."

'And peace was on me the day I was born, and peace will be on me the day I shall die, and the day I shall be raised up to life again.' That was Jesus, son of Mary. This is a statement of the truth concerning which they entertain doubt." -- Qur'an, Surah 19:30-35

one verse says, He did not die. one verse indicates that Jesus Himself says, He will die and be raised again to life!

Many Christians claim they have the absolute truth and that people who don't have christ in their life aren't capable of real happiness or love. Many of us have taken very different paths, experienced completely different things and have found happiness and love through those experiences. To be told our happiness isn't "really" happiness because it does not involve christ produces a feeling that can only be described as outrage. I hope I'm not sounding rude, that's not my intention. Christians, what are your thoughts on this? Agree/disagree? Should Christians change their tactics if they really want to convert people? Non-christians, are your experiences different than mine?

They seem to be so offended by even the most trivial of things that are only remotely connected with Christianity, that's why they're so obsessed with removing God from the pledge and using Xmas instead of Christmas. If Christianity is just another fairy tale to you then why should you equate it with actual harm. If someone went around telling you that you should believe in Santa or scientology , you would probably just laugh at them for being crazy. And atheists hardly ever get offended by other religious symbols as long as it's not Christian.

It appears to me Muslims put most of their worship on places and Mohamed and the Koran instead of their own God. Why doesn't that go completely against what is suppose to do?

No one shall be deceived but more is happening with the the Jewish Nation and the return of Jesus: Yeshua his hebrew name

Isn't Israel to focus of Jesus Christ's return to earth?
http://www.wnd.com/
Rabbi Simcha Pearlmutter talks about Yeshua his Messiah, the Torah, the Hebrew faith, being a Jew, why he is not a Christian, the land of Israel, etc. He shows a few samples from the Jewish writings where the name Yeshua appears. In recent times many of these references have been hidden from the average Jew. He also reveals that there is a small remnant inside Judaism that knows Yeshua ben Yoseph - the suffering servant, who will return to rule as king to Jerusalem - Yeshua
Ben David. The prophets have prophesized that before the return of the Messiah the Jewish nation will be gathered back to the Promised Land - Israel.

Not the average christian, which I respect, I'm taling about the "Stem cell research is wrong blah blah blah.." and "Women dont have the right to decide what to do with their bodies.. blah blah" and "We need all little kids to be brainwashed to our way of thinking from a young age despite their parents' wishes, and thus need mandatory prayer time in school, and the comandments scribbled on every available surface" Doesnt it make you wish they'd finally get that maybe what's right for one isnt right for all. Especially with stem cell research. If they'd ever watched a loved one die of lou gehrig's disease or Parkinsons maybe they wouldnt be so judgemental (I pray that they never do, but I also hope they open their eyes)

Opinions (no flaming please)

We have no god dictating right and wrong to us. We have no hell to worry about if we make a wrong decision. We show respect where we feel it is deserved. People who spew ignorance and insist other people should believe fairy tales are not really worthy of respect.

You (Christians) on the other hand have a code of conduct to follow. We can all read it for ourselves and tell whether or not you are following it. If we call you on it and you try to excuse your behavior rather than admitting it, we only see you as liars and hypocrites.

Why insist on other people being nice to you when you cannot even stop yourselves from acting like complete imbeciles?

This person is elderly but, drives and hardly ever is at home. She is involved with just about every activity there is at Church but, doesn't really ever do anything. I have cooked her several meals and brought them to her and even once made an excuse for her to come to my house to shower as I told her she was in no doubt afraid of falling in her house and so I got her to take a shower then with the idea that she wasn't showering because she was afraid and I continue the offer but, it is like pulling teeth and the thing is she smells so bad people do not want to be around her and she rejects help with it, we just don't know what to do about it.
