Jesus was the son of god but everyone seems hung up on him... what's the deal? I read all the time Jesus is God and stuff like that I often hear people say it alot. Calling him their lord and all.

I have read all of your answers, and that are all very good replys and some things that I havent even thought about, which is good, so I can have more sides to my essay.

But what if like, Heaven and Hell arent real, I mean, I know they are a majorly important part of Christianity, but what if Heaven and Hell were just writen in there figurativly, kind of like a story book, or like Santa. To show you that you should be good, and kind, or this horrible thing will happen to you, or possible even be rewarded for being a good person. I mean, shouldnt you just want to be a good person for the sake of being a good person, Heaven and Hell shouldnt be the thing to persuade you.

What if it was all, the entire Bible ment to be a storybook, rather than real.

What if the bible is supposed to be Nonfiction, rather than Fiction?

you see, i have no real "religion" or church that i attend. i recently decided to isolate myself from my family's church, Roman Cahtolic.therefore, i am no longer a Roman Cahtolic. in fact , i never felt very "Catholic" considering i only got Baptized and i went to church about 2 or 3 times. i never felt comfortable at church. i never learned to pray. but i still believe in a God (i dont know if i believe in Jesus Chirst). i dont believe in the Virgin Mary. i always talk to God in my mind. i ask him to help me, guide me and to help others(including my family). i dont read the bible and i dont want to, ever! but i feel that i am not religious, i just feel that there is a God. what would you consider me to be????????

I feel so bad with myself for it. I am not doing well as I expected, my 3rd semester of college ends up today and I feel that because I haven't done well enogh and in danger of failing 2 classes I am like worthless or bad. I try to live following God's rules the most I can and with this, I feel like I'm doing so wrong. :(

Matthew 10:34 "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword."

So Jesus was not a Child of God?

God says that we have all sinned and fallen short of His glory (Romans 3:23) and that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) This means hell- and it is a real place. Because there is punishment for sin- God is Just, and Holy-- He cannot let sin into His kingdom.
This means that every one of us would be separated from God once we die, since we have sin, and God is holy and has no sin, He is pure and cannot be in the presence of sin. But God made a way for us to be with him-- through Jesus Christ--That is why Christ died and rose again, defeating death, so we who believe could be born again in Him, given a new heart, cleansed by His blood, and redeemed! When we confess our sins and believe in Him, repent of them-- we are saved, God grants us a new heart and new life-- and He opens our eyes to His truth through His wonderful word, the Holy Bible. So when we believe in Him, repent of sin, we are set free from sin and hell. Praise Jesus!

When you see a person walking down the street...and you say to yourself, "Wow...she's hideous..." do you actually think that she is ugly inside and out and that there is not one beautiful thing about her? I have given up calling people ugly. Because that girl you just called ugly...can go and get surgery and look beautiful on the outside...but what really matters is the interior. I do not have a problem personally with this....but I just feel bad for those who lack good genes. What matters is whats in the inside. As long as a person is nice, and has a beautiful personality...they are beautiful people to me and I would be their friend and give them my love. Would you?

im an atheist, and i wanna know some more about other peoples beliefs. not so that i can say that your wrong, nor so that i can prove me right. I just wanna know more about you, so that i can understand. Its a fact that people fear what they dont understand, they hate and detest it. so if i can understand you, and other like me can understand you. then wouldnt that mean that we dont hate you? and then if you can understand me, perhaps, just maybe, we could be friends, instead of blood enemies. Tell me without saying: god exists outside of time and space, you just need to believe, without quoting from your book(s), without flaming, without hate, but with true knowledge, explain what you believe in, tell me, the deepest way you can, how you believe, and why.

I am an atheist
I do not and never have done drugs.
I have the odd glass of wine
I am a COMPLETE pacifist and don't condone any violence.
So PLEASE... for the person/persons that say us "non god" people are responsible for all these terrible things (drug abuse etc) Please have a bit more thought about what you write.
Drinking. drug taking and violence is by no means reserved for the "non god" people.
