I am an atheist
I do not and never have done drugs.
I have the odd glass of wine
I am a COMPLETE pacifist and don't condone any violence.
So PLEASE... for the person/persons that say us "non god" people are responsible for all these terrible things (drug abuse etc) Please have a bit more thought about what you write.
Drinking. drug taking and violence is by no means reserved for the "non god" people.
How many born again christians are on death row right now?

Sorry...but I refuse to believe I'm a sinner..I've never done anything bad in my whole 36 years of life. If I'm a sinner in christian eyes then so be it..they are entitled to their beliefs.

How can you reject something you have never known..there is no religion in my family..I have never been to church except when I was christianed at 6 weeks old.
If I am a sinner in god's eyes..that doesn't make sense if I believe there is no such entity as god does it?
It's like me saying that you will be attacked by the boogie man tonight in bed...but you say "but the boogieman doesn't exist"
Do you understand where I'm coming from?

slamm..sorry darling but I HAVE NOT sinned...and you probably haven't either. Your religion seems very negative. Does your god not give you the benefit of the doubt?

Agreed! Shoving your religion down someone else's throat is quite simply wrong, as far as I can see. Belief should be a personal matter.

I chose to be baptised because I went to church school as a kid - my choice. Now I have different beliefs. I can't imagine being arrogant enough (or, perhaps, well-intentioned but misguided enough) to preach at anyone else about it. I have my own beliefs, you have yours, and that is exactly how it should be.

I'm all for tolerance and co-existence.

Why can't people live and let live.

Also for Christians it is a win-win situation. If they are right and there is a heaven and a god then they can gloat that they were right, if there is not god or heaven then they aren't any the wiser. Please take that in the humorous context that it was intended.

I am getting my child baptised as a catholic because I see it as a way as celebrating the birth of a child and not because I believe that it would be sinful not to.

And for the record I don't actually know what to believe. Having recently lost a close family member the only way that I am able to deal with the loss is by holding onto the thought that there may be something else. I feel that if I knew that I would never see this person again I do not think that I would be able to cope with their death. By feeling that I may be able to see them again then it gives me something to hold on to.

I haven't been on this site long, but I have learned a lot about religion, spirituality, christians, atheists and others. I asked a question the other day that was directed at atheists - not religious/chrstians. I had many replies. The question was, "If your child or spouse" decided to become a spirit filled, born again Christian, what would you do?"

I will be honest, I pre judged and thought, for sure, that most atheists would boot whoever it was out of the house. But what I found out is that EVERY SINGLE ATHEIST said they would accept them, wish the best for them and ask that they not shove it down their throats. I don't believe any christianns/religious people responded. And.......because both were not on the post at the same time, there was NO negativity. I think what is happening is that we are expecting each other to be intolerant = and some are (on both sides) When we see (or read) one of "our own" writing a really vicious negaive out of line comment ............ let's start calling them out (by name) on the carpet. For instance, I am a christian. If I read that another christian is writing something really mean to an atheist................... I am going to bring it to attention in my answer/remark and call them out by name and visa versa w/ the atheists and all the others.

THIS SLANDER - I MEAN THE REAL SLANDER - NEEDS TO STOP. WE ARE ALL GUILTY OF IT AND WE ARE ALL HYPOCRITES WHEN IT COMES TO THIS.

Not sure what your question actually was, but seems like you are more 'holier than thou' than the Christians you seek to educate!

The only question I can find was 'How many born again Christians are on death row right now?'.

Probably quite a few, although most of those probably became born-again Christians after going to jail. Also when faced with the imminence and certainty of their own mortality people tend to be more open to things of a spiritual nature!

As a Christian, I just want to say that I don't think you're a bad person just because of your beliefs or lifestyle. I know there are many who will judge you for that, but it really isn't their place, and I'm sorry you have to experience that. I have many friends who live lifestyles I don't agree with (including atheists, homosexuals, and others), but that doesn't mean I don't like the person. These friends know how I feel about their beliefs, but they know when it comes down to it, I've got their back. I know it's hard for anybody to be understanding of people who don't believe what they believe, but you seem to be ahead of many Christians I know where that is concerned!

Unfortunately, those who believe atheists are immoral will not be swayed by this. It's been said countless times, but their religious tomes tell them otherwise and therefore nothing we say can be true.

I had a Christian friend who "felt sorry" for me and believed me to be "lost". I think that even good intentioned believers fail to see how condescending those kind of comments are. Even though she was face to face with me and knew me for many years, saw that I was happy and law-abiding and compassionate, she still felt I was missing something in my life. Ironically, her life was a complete wreck, and still is. But still she pities me.

You'll find around here you spend more time defending your morality than anything else. It gets old. In the end, it doesn't matter really :) Let those who will think bad of atheists have their moral high horse.

those that come to the Bible with unbelief will locate so stated as 'contradictions.' although Christian have chanced on solutions to each and every this kind of circumstances. each and every now and then one author of the gospels captures one actuality and the different recollects yet another actuality. attempt having 2 people take minutes in a assembly and also you've one recording one actuality and different selecting out yet another which become spoken. both are real, yet they prefer to be harmonized. Or yet an additional reason behind so stated as contradictions is that an adventure occurred more beneficial then once therefore the first time this occurred and the 2d time this occurred. party #a million: Mark and Matthew debts of strolling on water in nice condition memories. In Matthew you spot an instantaneous reaction of outrage and then a later reaction of worship. In Mark purely the terror or hardening of their hearts are recorded. back a ideal party of two people recording an adventure and one recording a more beneficial specific account and one a more beneficial short account. party #2: Jacob become the on the spot father of Joseph. although the note *on the spot* does no longer look contained in the textual content. The relations tree in Matthew which purposely communities the descendants in communities of 14, showing that Jesus become the son of Abraham, and which become designed for a Jewish target market. In Luke we see a catalogue designed for a gentile target market the position the reason behind the record is to prepare that Jesus turned right into a son of Adam. party #3: Luke's relations tree shows the ancestry of Mary, at the same time as Matthew shows the relations tree of Joseph. party #4: In Mark they are allowed a unmarried artwork force. In Matthew they to no longer enable staffs - as contained in the plural! there is not any contradiction. party #5: In John 5:31 Jesus become speaking as he become being preserved by utilising the Jews as an insignificant guy. a guy needed 2 or 3 witnesses for something to be gained. although in John 8:14 Jesus is speaking as He extremely is; the 2d individual of the Trinity, which with the daddy and Holy Spirit are each and every of the witnesses God needs. study John 8:17,18; "that's likewise written on your regulation, that the testimony of two adult men is real. i'm one which submit to witness of myself, and the daddy that despatched me beareth witness of me."

OK, I'm an atheist too. I do lots of drugs, and always have. I never drink wine, which I find disgusting. And I have no problem with violence directed against utter bastards.

It really doesn't matter what our lives are like. We both believe there are no gods. That's the only thing that unites atheists.

As a christian I say you are right. And that is becasue we are all sinners no matter if we are christians, atheist, drug users, non drug users etc...
Whoever said that about "non god" people are incorrect, and this is coming from a christian who does not judge you for being an atheist or anyone else. We are all sinners. We all sin. Thanks for setting the record straight, you are correct.

Join the Boring Atheist Club with me! I don't do drugs, but will drink now and again. I volunteer, vote and protest the war. The most "non-christian" thing I'm doing is going to a My Chemical Romance concert with my daughter on Monday.

Yeah, we're bad to the bone!
