you see, i have no real "religion" or church that i attend. i recently decided to isolate myself from my family's church, Roman Cahtolic.therefore, i am no longer a Roman Cahtolic. in fact , i never felt very "Catholic" considering i only got Baptized and i went to church about 2 or 3 times. i never felt comfortable at church. i never learned to pray. but i still believe in a God (i dont know if i believe in Jesus Chirst). i dont believe in the Virgin Mary. i always talk to God in my mind. i ask him to help me, guide me and to help others(including my family). i dont read the bible and i dont want to, ever! but i feel that i am not religious, i just feel that there is a God. what would you consider me to be????????

An Atheist is defined as one who believes that there is no deity . Since you believe in a god you are not an Atheist. I would consider you an agnostic
An agnostic is a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (as God) is unknown and probably unknowable; broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god.

Here are the positions.
You can be a deist. A deist believes that there is a god. Often times, the deist god is impersonal, and if she is personal, she does not meddle much with the affairs of the world. In short, the deist god is not a governor of the universe, only its creator. A deist often times pray to and ask for guidance from her god, but she often times does not have a religion for rational reasons.
You may be a negative atheist in denial. A negative atheist is someone who believes or feels that there is not enough evidence for the existence of a god.
I think you cannot possibly be a positive atheist. A postive atheist asserts that there is enough evidence that there is no god.
Or, you could simply be an irreligous theist, someone who just believes that there is a personal god who created, governs and sustains the unverse up to the present time, but does not have a religion.
Athiest, deists and irreligous people combined make up the third largest belief group in the world. Although theism is still strong, religion is by all measures weakening and wanning. You, my friend, are part of this great movement toward irreligousity.

Who ever told you that you need formal prayers to talk to God? I don't think you are an atheist but you may not be a Christian. I do believe in Jesus but I don't believe in religion! I think that God made all of us just the way he wanted us and is looking at life through all of our eyes. I sometimes think of myself as God's thought since everything has to be a thought before it can become a thing. Don't let anyone pressure you into being something you're not but have you ever read the Bible? I have read most of it, all really, but I couldn't quote verse and line. It's definitely worth reading but it leaves a lot to interpretation in my mind. I have different thoughts on what was said than many. So only judge yourself and really even that is God's job, but don't feel as if you're bad for not being Catholic.

An atheist does not believe in god, so no.
A deist believes that there is a higher power, so that is close. Most deists do not believe in a personal go though, Einstein was pretty much a deist.
I think you are probably a you. Do you feel a need to be classified as a member of a group?
You say that you do not pray, but that you talk to god in your mind. What is the difference?
Do you feel that god ever responds? Do you feel that it makes a difference? Can you show that it makes a difference? How would you feel if you were to stop talking?

An atheist is someone who does not believe in God. That doesn't sound like you.
Being "Catholic" or "Baptist" or "Methodist" doesn't make you "religious" or any closer to God or really anything except a member of that particular church.
You can be religious about brushing your teeth or taking out the trash. Being "religious" does not mean you have a relationship with God. So get that word out of your head.
What would I consider you to be? I would consider you to be looking for something that you can believe in. But to make a decision, you need to be educated.
If you want to learn about God and the Christian faith, you can't avoid reading the bible. It's the basis for all the Christian faiths and beliefs. So if you want to make an educated decision, not one just based on what other people tell you or how you feel, you're going to have to spend some time in there. That doesn't mean you have to sit down and read it cover to cover. Go to a christian bookstore an pick up some short bible study workbooks on topics that you are interesed in , and start there. If you need help, ask the staff there to show you where to find that kind of info.
If you don't believe in the Virgin Mary, then you cannot believe that Jesus was the Son of God. You need to really understand the whole concept.
Sounds to me like you need to find a church group where you can ask some questions and feel comfortable. I would look for a non-denominational bible based church. Get involved and have a chat with the pastor. Find somewhere where there are people your own age and a place where you feel comfortable.
Church is about education and community. Not about a 45 minute sit-down once a week. If you're not getting anything out of it, you shouldn't be there.
Don't give up your search for answers. And keep praying to God for answers. Ask Him to lead you where He wants you to be.

I would consider you to be very human, and would do the same if I was in your place .....
Some religious systems just don`t click to people with a sound heart and then they start going further and further from that religion, this is especially the case with man made religion, or religions originally started by a prophet of God but were later adulterated and the prophets message was misunderstood.
You seem to be a great person, especially in your relationship with God, you probably have a very pure concept of God and like me could never believe that God could have a son (or maybe something else). I really appreciate your constant relationship and turning back to God, and I don`t think you are an atheist if you have a firm faith in The Creator of the heaven sand the earth and You.
I cried reading your question, becos I feel God`s Mercy and power towards you.I pray you will find The True God, The Most High The Most supreme, The Creator and Sustainer.
"And when My slaves ask you concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near to them. I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright. (Al-Baqarah 2:186) - Quran. Don`t you feel so close to your Creator after reading His words.
I`m not preaching to you any religion, but I found the truth in this book, and it is in-keeping with our natural instincts. At first I advice you to read it just to find your answer about God, you can ignore the other details in your first reading ..... just pay attention to the verses about God and try to internalise them

You don`t have to convert if you don`t want to, but it will solve alot of your mental worries and bring you much peace. You seem to be a nice girl. May Allah guide you to the truth and keep you saved from misguidance.

Well i wouldnt say you an atheist, im not even sure ur agnostic. Cos u do seem 2 belive in a God. Actaully u remind me of what i was like before i became a Christian. Before i was saved, i talked 2 God only in times of trouble but i wasnt sure i believed. I NEVER read the Bible and didnt know if i believed any of it.
Now im a Christian and i do believe. Maybe its the same with you. Im not telling you what to believe or anything just saying ur situation is a lot like what mine was. So just say ask God to show you what you should do. I pray He'll lead you to salvation.
God Bless

I would consider you spiritual but not necessary Christian (for that you have to believe in Jesus Christ, hence the name).
It's up to you what you class yourself.
If you have no faith in anything spiritual then I would say you were an atheist, you say you believe in God so you are spiritual.
Whatever you beleive in if it means you treat your fellow man/woman with respect and decency and you try to be a good person and help people then no-one should bother you or insult your faith.
If you can believe in something then that's great, but for me I think it's equally important to be a good person regardless.
I am Christian (although I don't go to Church anymore and have some issues with the Old Testament) and I consider those with or without faith but who are good people all on the same level. Some people in certain religions don't believe that way (believing you HAVE to have a certain religion), but I do, if it brings peace to you and those around you then it's all good.

To be atheist, you believe there is NO God, so I wouldn't call you antheist. I used to be Baptist, came from a Christian home and am the daughter of a minister. But like you I never felt a connection to Christianity. And had sooo many questions that weren't being answered. I became Muslim a little while back after reading so many teaching that actually answered my questions.
You are spiritual because you pray for yourself and others and believe there is a God.
In Islam we're taught that we are born to worship Allah, but its our parents who instill in us other religions. I would suggest to you that you read on Islam because I feel it can help you.
And contrary to popular belief women in Islam are not oppressed. In fact, we are more accepted and were first given rights before any other religion. We were respected from the beginning, it was man who tried to make us believe we were being oppressed.
If you would like to discuss more you may email me and I can give you many books that you can read.
I believe that the answer will come to you, you just have to open your ears and listen.
Peace be unto you. And I hope God guides you on the Right Path.

Let me start by telling you that I too am not religious. I have a set of beliefs that I will share only when asked that do not include any deities.
With that said, what you are describing in my opinion is not atheism. What it sounds like is Judaism. From what I understand, the Jews believe in God and that he will one day send his son but that Jesus was not God's son.
It's easy to feel uncomfortable in church for anyone that understands the principles of hypocrisy since every person at any church, under the age of 65, is, most likely a hypocrite. That fact makes going to a church very difficult for me, not to mention that I don't want to mislead anyone as to what I do believe by attending (my mother quite often wrangles me into going to events at her church - she's a Southern Baptist).
