You will know, once you know how to practice what you preach. Some Christian preach but didn't practice what they preach. Some Christian practice what they preach, but when trouble comes, they hesitate because they don't have good bible knowledge to practice what they preach.

When trouble/ problem comes, how do you react to it? Angry? Calm? Seek help from God? Finding illegal solution? Telling the truth? Lie? If you choose correct path most of the times, its likely you are a mature Christian. Doesn't mean you need to be perfect all the times. Human is not perfect. I also lie 'accidentally' sometimes. But i work hard towards avoid it as much as possible and looking for God's help rather than my own solution. Mature Christian always seek for God's help most of the times.

What an interesting question. About a year or so ago I was about to begin another year of bible study. The ladies' ministry at my church has an evening study that goes from September to May, every Thursday night. As I was walking out the door (it was about my 8th year), I felt this "maturity". I realized that it was a feeling of being mature, spiritually. It was something God revealed to me and I was very pleased. This is because there are very few things in my life I have laid my hand to and stuck with faithfully.

That being said, it's not a stopping place. I just finished my 10th year in these bible studies, and I know I have not "arrived" anywhere. All I know you could put into a thimble *smile*....maybe. I still have the world to learn about Jesus and the word of God.

But it was a lovely experience. My answer is, let God show you.

When you begin to understand that God loves sinners so much that He died for them, you will begin to understand how your own condemnation of people who don't think the same way you do must aggravate Him...I guess you first must understand that you, yourself, are one of these same sinners.
When you begin to realize that God never thought up the concept of torturing people forever in a pit of fire, that the notion is sadistic and totally against all that Jesus taught...
When you begin to understand that prayer is not a matter that can be legislated, and pray anywhere you happen to be without fear, since God, and not man, is in control...
By the same token, when you begin to realize that whether or not some government here legalizes something God has called illegal doesn't matter in the least, it is still illegal in God's Kingdom...
When you begin to realize that all life is sacred, from the moment a child is conceived until the moment God calls that life back to Himself...
When you truly learn what it means to love others as Christ loves them, and when you can honestly begin to treat others as you, yourself, would wish to be treated...
When you have reached this point, you have only just taken your first toddling steps toward adulthood.

Maturity as a Christian is continuing journey, not a destination.

To me, if you ever STOP asking that question and just assume it is true, that is a sign of some sort of immaturity because (again, to me) you are saying that you got it figured out and none of us really do.

Keep walking - sounds to me like you are on the right path.

When you leave the Church. I'm dead serious! Christian churches have more differing opinions that Carther has pills. They insist that the Church down the road is dirty because they don't agree.

It's a bunch of fights over words. God doesn't need you to join a faction in his name. You can believe and venerate from wherever you are.

Take a close look at Gladiato's answer. This is typical. It's all about having the "right" opinion. What? Do you think St. Peter gives written IQ thest at the perley gates? That thinking is ALL ABOUT EGO.

You will know by the fruit of the spirit:
But the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

And I haven't got there yet....It seems like I take 2 steps forward and 1 step back...

I don't think it really matters...every once and a while, when I think I've really begun to mature in my walk, I'm humbled by my sinfulness.

All I know is that we are supposed to press onward toward the prize and try to be perfect as Christ was. That should be good enough.

By learning who you are in Christ. Also, learning to love & forgive & encourage one another in faith. Forgiving enemies, blessing those who curse you. Defeating evil by doing good.

Also, we are trained in Christ to discern the spiritual. Learning how to resist the flesh (when someone pokes your buttons you resist yelling, cussing, etc.) & make the soul choice to follow after the fruits of the Spirit; faith, hope, love, joy, peace, patience, truth, etc... Renew your mind in the Word of God. Trust & obey God. Jesus said that if you love Him, you will obey Him. Praying in the Spirit, building your most Holy Faith. Maturing in your faith.

Encourage unity of faith in the body of Christ. Learn the hope of your calling. Anyway. These just come to mind right now. That is what my mind cranked out.
