Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but watching John Sweeney jumping about at a John Travolta film premiere trying to pass himself off as a fan whilst shouting about brain washing, not very dignified, and I'm sure that any fans there that night hoping to get an autograph would agree.

My religion bowed to the pressure of public opinion and governmental regulations and dismissed beliefs it used to have when it started. So am I to believe that God made a mistake or they have sold out and no longer adhering to God's commandments which would make it a false religion now if the latter is true. If God was wrong to begin with than how could my religion be true if mere man has to correct him?

I am confused and need help in determining who is wrong now?

I asked 2 seperate questions in this section!
One addressed to religious folk asking if there was anything at all that would make them stop beliveing in God.
The other addressed to atheists asking if there was anything at all that would make them believe in God.
Out of 23 answers to each question only a couple said there was nothing at all that would change their mind.
The rest cant be very convinced can they?

Since Jesus came, died and ascended into heaven to be the most important person that ever lived on this planet?

When Jesus was killed most thought people would forget about him, his message and it would die out like so many people and faiths did in the past.

Yet his message and his life has never been able to be wiped out although many have tried through-out history..

Do you think there has ever been a person other than Jesus Christ that could have such importance to billions on earth over time? If you think there can be another than who?

No one has that power accept the Messiah of the world Jesus Christ..How can you not think that is divine and proof of GOD...

Political battles are important and necessary. But the fight for gay marriage equality will ultimately be won only when our nanas and aunts and uncles and cousins and nieces and nephews see our marriages as the family-extending events that they are, don't you agree.

I am doing a project for school, where you have to chose ANY topic, and write a basic essay on how you support your thesis. You are suposed to get other peoples opionions, and show your response.

So I am pretty much writing about how I think the Bible was writen based on how you should act morally, rather than writen as some sort of a law to follow.

Can I get opinions?

My wife spoke to her friend from back home yesterday and this is what her friend's 3 year old has been telling them:
Okay, Jennifer (my wife's friend) is pregnant with their 3rd child. It is too soon to know the sex of the baby yet. They already have 2 boys, and the dad said he felt like this one was a boy too and wants to name him Charlie.
The 3 year old gets very mad when the dad says this and has said "NO! Her name is Kate. It's a girl! Don't you remember? Before we came here, we were all together? It's her turn to come.
They ask him, where? Where were we before, and he just says, "you know", and he never tells them an answer.

I think this is fascinating. I am a Christian. I have always believed that children forget more than we will ever know by the time they can really speak.
I have noticed that some children will reach out to a picture of Christ before they can even speak, as if they know Him.

Occasionally I think of very serious and life changing questions. This is one of them.

If anything beside God is eternal, doesnt that undermine the existence of a single God?

Explanation: we worship and believe in a Creator because He is the Only One who is eternal and powerful and is the sustainer of all. If the human soul, or hell or heaven or any one of those things was eternal, wouldnt that mean that they have a characteristic thats same as God? and nothing can be the same as God.

I've had Christians tell me that husbands should be in charge of their families, as long as they rule with kindness. To me, it seems like husbands are simply benevolent dictators by this argument. Why can't doctrine make wives equal partners in a nuclear family?

I'm an atheist, but my ex-wife is a Christian. I now have sole custody of our 7 year old daughter, who we raised as a Christian. She has recently learned that Santa Claus doesn't exist. She started asking me about the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, etc. and I told her that they don't exist either. I'm tired of this Christian nonsense, so I also told her that it's the same way with Jesus. She cried for hours, and now she seems very depressed. I'm glad she's an athiest now, but what can I do to cheer her up?
