most people reject the bible because they want to delude their minds of the absence of punishment and so can easily pursue all that flesh desires....
they engage in fantasies about evolution & mysterious corrission as the origin of the word...

I don't believe in God or the Bible because some people who do believe in it are judgmental and close-minded. Plus I think the religion is too strict, and the followers believe that their way is the right way, the only way. It's fine to me if people believe in that stuff, but they shouldn't be so judgmental toward other people. What gives them the right to put down other people if they dare to have different beliefs.
Plus, hasn't there been changes in the Bible and there are some laws or rules that are not followed? People manipulate the book to their liking. I have met some really cool people who believe in God and they are the ones who don't try to convert me or think I some horrible person. I believe since the Bible has been changed and that there are some things that are not followed that people don't really know what they are doing.
My religion is Buddhism and I'm not really religious or anything, but as far as I know there has not been any modifications to it. There are no doubting or second thoughts. There are also not as many restrictions as the Bible has. All I have to do is be a good person, not harm other living things, and respect other people and I will receive good karma.
Some people who follow the Bible believe themselves to be good people but they are actually they ones who are the most rude and meanest people I have ever met.

The greatest antidote for the Bible is the Bible. If you read cover to cover instead of your pastor's recommended reading list, you get a portrait of a megalomaniacal, egotistic, schizophrenic, despot, tyrant of a God. Yes, there is the love, peace, and happiness hippie God of the New Testament but he is surrounded on all sides by accounts of ordering genocide, destruction, and hatred. He is a infanticidal, homophobic, genocidal, ego-centric, maniac with serious delusions of grandeur. The God of the Bible is anything but an all knowing, all feeling, all loving, and all powerful God. In the words of Winston Churchill's son Randolph, "God, isn't God a *expletive for poop deleted*!" He exclaimed that as he read through the Bible for the first time.
Add to that, it has been translated more times than any other book and loses or gains doctrine with each translation. The original texts are unavailable and the existing ones have clear discrepancies between them. Christians pick and choose the verses they wish to follow, glazing over the overtly bad ones with random explanations that don't make sense.

Why? and you make us seem a bit wretched when you state "you People" .. What if I said .... You people that read the bible. Why do you read it? You'd come up with a glorious answered that you have been saved and seen the light.. Nourishment ect. Everyone is diffrent and in the end all you will get is a bunch of Opinions and no real answer...... It will always be like that.. So why are you curious... Do you find it at mockery or rather a judgement...... Hmmm.... All I have to say is don't be weak in your faith and question others about thier beliefs.... As a christian you should be one to proclaim that the bible is great rather then precieving other point of view who don't wish to read it ... Trying to get people to read not ask them why they don't...

The Bible teaches many great lessons. But it's also been used by people to start wars, support prejudices, and basically generate a lot of hatred. I think the danger comes in believing that the Bible is the exact Word of God, and not realizing that it was actualy written by men, and rewritten countless times. Take the good from it, but think strong and clearly on your own and don't use it to perpetuate anger or hatred.

I am a Christian, saved by the grace of God. I do not worship the Bible, I believe it is written and compiled by men (and maybe women too) who were inspired by God. I believe there is much that was left out and that the compilers had some motives that were not as pure. Still I treasure it and read it daily, asking for God to help me understand it.

You do realize the Muslims could (and do) say exactly the same thing about the people who don't believe in the Koran?
Quite simply, some folks haven't been given any reason to believe in the Bible. Without such a reason, they don't. Do you believe in the Book of Mormon? In the Bagadvadita? Why not?

I read the Bible. Frankly I was horrified by some of the things in it. I could not believe that any loving entity could do, allow, or condone many of the atrocities within. Therefore, I decided the Bible must be what's false.

I used to believe it very strongly and read it all the time. For me, I just found too many inconsistencies that didn't make sense. Much of the Old Testament was upsetting to me, and my heart said it didn't teach good values. I started to doubt it was divinely inspired, but rather a glimpse of how people in ancient times thought and believed.

For me, it's a matter of verifying history and the accuracy of statements made. If something is truth, I should be able to verify it's information in a number of sources that are independent of it. That simply is not the case with the bible.
