p.s. the reason i posted this was, cause my mom thinks its weird that i dont believe in her god, but like to listen to music that was originally based around their religion.

I'm a strong atheist and yet I like a lot of classical music, including religious classical music. One of my favorites is O Magnum Mysterium (O Great Mystery).

I've always liked "Long Black Train" - at least partly because Josh Turner and I have similar vocal ranges, and nobody writes popular music for baritones or below (at least not since Crash Test Dummies).

I've liked some songs with religious lyrics. It doesn't really matter, it's the beat that gets me.
But not country, haha.

Country songwriters tell some great stories through their lyrics. The sound itself is just not for me.

I'm certain that country music and atheism cannot coexist. I think country music will prevail. And I'm a metalhead, I don't even like country music.

No, it's perfectly fine.
I'm a staunch atheist myself and I love "O Holy Night," for example.
If you like the music, who cares about the words, and vice versa. *chuckles and shrugs*

You may claim to be an atheist but something inside of you is crying out that you really do know deep down inside there is a God. That's why it draws you the way it does.
