GE 38:13-19 Tamar plays the role of a harlot in order to have sexual intercourse with her father-in-law. She conceives and twins are born.
GE 24:2-9, 47:29 "... put your hand under my thigh, and I will make you swear by the Lord ...." (Note: This means "put your hand under my testicles," which is the manner in which oaths were taken at the time; "testament," "testify," and "testicle" have the same root.)

Ok. All the atheist bashers are right. I should have a religion. Please tell me which supernatural belief to adhere to, and please explain why I should choose this system over all others. BTW, "believe as I do" and "its in this book" are not aswers.

Experience tells us that attachment to people, things and views can often lead us to suffering - disappointment, frustration, pain and sorrow.

We all know the many contradictions in the bible especially if we take it literally so God is perfect and knew we would be at odds today so why didnt God make the bible crystal clear?
And why don't we just get rid of the old testament?

It seems to me that the more a Christian was into say music, film and other creative intellectual thought outside of religion – the less preachy and strict but more free-spirited and accepting. A lot of Christians seem to have a negative view of secular entertainment. Yes, mainstream pop-cultre is flooded with garbage but what about the older, hippie stuff?

One friend of mine was raised to believe the rapture is coming anyday so did not go to college and did not truly care about the issues on earth since she was saved and going to be whisked away.
By the age 16 she realized this was all crap.
She is now 30 and just trying to get her life back together from christianity.
Any comments?
No Bible quotes please I know the bible cover to cover since childhood.

The Supreme court is the arbiter of religion and law.
And a lot more than that, of life and death, the same ways.
There is a parallel I can see.
What do you think?
BTW I am not bashing, lets discuss this.

I mean the atheist crusades, the atheist inquisition, the atheist suicide bombers, just terrible people.

BTW, before anyone brings it up: Hitler was not an athiest. And Stalinist communism is so inflexible, dogmatic and based on unquestioning faith that it might as well be a religion.

i just wanna know your opinion.

Including being born in a certain place-Bethlehem
Come from a certain linneage, exact manner of execution--which was not even a form of execution in the time at which the prophecy was given. Be named according to prophecy. Have the claim of being virgin born---from prophecy. Be condemned by the people that were prophesied to condemn him. By chance not have a broken bone, when all other crucifixion victims had their knees shattered to expedite death. Be victim of a traitor for an exact amount prophesied. And there are many more I could give you. The chances of one person fullfilling them all would be astronomical at best. And far too many things could have prevented the occurence of any one of them, by virtue of the fact that Jesus had many enemies within the ranks of high ranking Jews.

So what are the chances?
Verified point---the Old Testament had been written long before.

I have just found a big dusty book and thousands of people who say that it is the word of god. What you got to say about that? It is written in black and white by the people who want you to believe so it has to be true. It is 100% accurate in light of all of the above so don't question because I know it is true.
