well, my personal opinion would be, because the male genitals were so vital to a man, that God use it to illustrate the importance of an oath.

Jews and Christians are referred in Quran as People of the Book. In fact the original books Torah and Injeel (Bible) were revealed by God. But Satan deviated the People of the Book to such an extent that they distorted their holy books and inserted such false stories of lust, sin and incest.
It is amazing that despite such things, still we find 1/3 of this planet believe this book to be holy. How can a holy book have such things.
