All relations in this world are temporary but only the relations with the Lord is eternal.
Why all relations are false & temporary since everything will perish including our material bodies the relationship of devotees are eternal since its on a spiritual level we may again meet again in Vaikuntha Dham in a different original form or svarupa
Relationships with Krishna is eternal since He is in our hearts as paramatama which will go with us into our next bodies
We must give up all these false relationships as it will give us time to establish our eternal relationships with the Supreme Lord & the whole of Srimad Bhagvad Gita & Srimad Bhagvatam not only speaks about our sambandha with Lord but also what to do when we understand that we have relationships with the Lord that is called abhideya or devotional service to the Lord and then we will get prayojana or the end result is pure love of God or Krishna Prem,we are falsely looking for that love we have with Krishna in this material world that is why we get baffled when someone whom we love the most dies & breaks that loving relationship & that is really baffling & we get bewildered & shocked and think how can it be that my beloved love has left me suddenly
so Gita explains that one must not become shocked when someone dear to us leaves this world suddenly but rather understand that our so called love in this world is also temporary

As a Christian I hope you do not mind me answering this question. When I first saw this question I thought it was about materialistic objects of this world. Which I believe is spread by greed and earthly desires. After reading the answers I was amazed. I have been emailing an Indian gentleman and we have been discussing this very same issue. I think as people we must remain openminded and try to learn all we can. I have no intention of leaving my religion, but I promise to respect yours if you will respect mine. I feel there are souls that have been together for a very long time. Yet I do believe in heaven and an afterlife. I have been in deep mourning for my Gramma who died back in Feb. she was so important in my life, that there are days I do not feel I am me without her. I do not feel there was anything false or temporary in the way her soul touched mine.
I hope I did not offend.
Peace.

Yes.
Have you ever noticed the pain of little disappointments? Like when you buy a piece of candy, and it tastes bad; or you rent a video game, and it doesn't work. It shouldn't matter, but it bothers you still. In some ways the little disappointment feels more painful than a big one. That's because you feel ashamed for having invested hope in such a petty object. Your conscience tells you that such minor pleasures are false and temporary. Without having to be taught this truth, your subconscious mind already knows it.
You don't have to renounce relations. Only renounce false hope.

Yes all relations in material world are false and temporary but that does not mean you renounce them. if you become aware of the ever-lasting relationship you have with God then that is enough.

Yes all relations are illusory and temporary. So, we should live our lives with enthusiasium and zest, because we know not what tommorow brings.
An example :
Death of a dear family member or spouse, we weep and lament for maybe a month and thereafter we again mingle with the crowd and slowly forget, and subsequently we begin festivities as time passes. Human can forget death of a near and dear relative, given sufficient time, and live life and look for pleasures of life, as usual,

Christians believe that life is ever lasting, that this life is only a precursor of the next, and that authentic love and charity begin here and will be perfected in eternity.
If there is indeed an afterlife, and if people do indeed have a God-given capacity for love, then what you are proposing is the only thing that is false.
