I read this from another question and subsequent answers. I am a bit confused as to what it is, or why anyone would do that to their Bibles.

literally bringing "evolution" out of the dark ages and into the glorious light of God?

What has been found has profound implications regarding Darwinian evolution, the theory taught in schools all over the world that all living beings have evolved by natural processes through mutation and natural selection.
As scientists began to decode the human DNA molecule, they found something quite unexpected—an exquisite 'language' composed of some 3 billion genetic letters.
It is hard to fathom, but the amount of information in human DNA is roughly equivalent to 12 sets of The Encyclopaedia Britannica—an incredible 384 volumes" worth of detailed information that would fill 48 feet of library shelves!
Every step science takes ACTUALLY MAGNIFIES God's glory.

As the great C.S. Lewis once wrote "if God wasnt real how would we tell the difference from right and wrong, evil and good?" He raises a good point here. How would be able to have a conscience?

That feeling that we recieve when we do something we know is wrong, like stealing from someone or killing someone, how would we know that that is truly bad without the presence of God? Science or nothing else can explain this. You cannot just say "well we would just know" because that does not make sense.

From a scientific standpoint can someone explain this?

What about from a different standpoint?

Marrying someone on the complete opposite end of your beliefs. . . .of course for example Christian and Atheist. Is it possible to work. How would you feel about the following things:
1. Do you get married in a church?
2. Do you get married by a pastor?
3. How do you feel when your spouse is gone to church?
4. When your spouse wants to pray over the meals?
5. When your spouse feels a part of the income should go toward tithing?

~Those are just a few things I can think of as I am getting ready to run out. Marriage is not easy . . .and there can not be one winner. . .and when you set yourself up into a tug of war someone is going to try to win.
~Is it not "better" to marry someone with common goals and beliefs. . .someone who encourages you. . .someone you can go to higher levels "WITH" in your beliefs, whatever those may be?

Gluttony is a sin in their bible Prov 23:21, Ecces 10:18, Rom 13:13, Phil 3:19 and 1 Pet 4:3 It is afterall the chief cause of obesity in America. It kills MILLIONS of people a year from heart disease, diabetes, stroke, cancer and more. It is probably highly responsible for our current rising cost of health care. Childhood obesity is an epidemic in our country.

What about Gossip. The Apostle Peter listed gossipers and busybodies among the same group as murderers and theives in 1 Peter 4:15, other passages condemning gossip as sinful are Prov 11:13, Jam 4:11, 1 Tim 3:11 and 5:13 and 14.

Some Christians believe that what is a sin for them is an ethical and social ill for everyone (as only they have the absolute moral authority on everything). But no gay person has ever hurt ME or my family and most are productive members of society. Perhaps it is a sin for Christians but for wider society, there is no socio/ethical harm.

Unlike gossip and gluttony.

Your comments?

I think Athesim too is based on faith because how is it possible to prove that there is no God.

Only Agnogists can truely claim to be truely un faith based. As they belief is simply they do not know because they can be no prove either way.

However, do you believe that Jesus Christ walked the face of the earth and, if nothing else, was an amazing prophet? I mean, much of our society is based around his birth and death like B.C. & A.D. / all the religious holidays (that I know replaced pagan holidays), the bible (which I know you think is a book of fables) is the best selling book of all time. I guess my question is based more on you if you believe Jesus existed from a historical standpoint. I know some of you are going to say this is a really stupid question, and maybe it is, however I am really curious re: this subject. And.....be nice ;)

I struggle with this one as a Chrisitian. I understand the point of view on the murder=abortion issue. But in order to hold santity of life dear does not the death penalty fall in the same realm?
Loigically for me it does but I'm willing to entertain objections backed by the Bible. New Testament only please as am not a strict constructionist. I have struggled with this for a long time. I can see forgiveness for a taking of life in a moment of passion. If not, we are all condemned for we sin daily. However to premediate the taking of a life is an issue i have desparate feelings about. Is it about revenge? Or does this make society safer?

This is your chance for a well thought agruement either way to be appreciated. I will not slam your opinion as I am testing my own morals not my brother's!

I'm a Catholic and get regularly accused of not knowing scripture because of one or more of the following,

1) I don't read it at home.
2) I don't have a KJV only version.
3) I don't carry a bible to Mass with me.

With regards to the first and second, I actually do read the bible at home and infact have not one bible but several including a KJV version.

On the third point how many of you read an entire bible cover to cover in an hour? I'm sure no one does and yet you critize Catholics for trusting in their pastor and lectors to read out loud the scriptures to the people. Funny enough I've asked in one of my other questions why some Protestants have a love affair with everything of Jewish origin and yet shun early Christian practise. This practise of being read to that Catholics imbrace is actually a Jewish one so why the issue with it?

I've often heard that some Protestants like to be seen with dog-ear bibles is this true? If so wouldn't this be similar to the Pharisees
