Gluttony is a sin in their bible Prov 23:21, Ecces 10:18, Rom 13:13, Phil 3:19 and 1 Pet 4:3 It is afterall the chief cause of obesity in America. It kills MILLIONS of people a year from heart disease, diabetes, stroke, cancer and more. It is probably highly responsible for our current rising cost of health care. Childhood obesity is an epidemic in our country.
What about Gossip. The Apostle Peter listed gossipers and busybodies among the same group as murderers and theives in 1 Peter 4:15, other passages condemning gossip as sinful are Prov 11:13, Jam 4:11, 1 Tim 3:11 and 5:13 and 14.
Some Christians believe that what is a sin for them is an ethical and social ill for everyone (as only they have the absolute moral authority on everything). But no gay person has ever hurt ME or my family and most are productive members of society. Perhaps it is a sin for Christians but for wider society, there is no socio/ethical harm.
Unlike gossip and gluttony.

first and maximum nicely known no you would be harrassing everyone. fat or gay or the different. What you besides mght could desire to think of roughly as you're making jokes is that some fat human beings could triumph over genetic hindrances to get previous the themes with weight in terms of thyroid ailment and different weight income issues. And once you check out somebody obese you're seeing the effects of the sin of gluttony. What you're seeing are the end results of what you're calling sin. Gluttony in terms of greed is a sin. The effect it may desire to have on somebody is for them to learn weight. yet what you notice from a gay isn't an effect of something. they're residing a existence-style of what's spoke of as out to be an abomination to the Lord. i do no longer see any genuine correlation the place a real parallel could be made between those diverse sins. the two are perverting the organic order of ways issues have been created by utilising God to be. We could consume to proceed to exist, once you pervert it, and become egocentric you consume greater beneficial than necessary and the effect could be weight problems. we opt to have intercourse to procreate or maybe for exhilaration. as quickly as we pervert it that way it is insupportable offense interior the eyes of God. I understand which you're an atheist yet extremely what variety of race of beings might we be if gay became extremely the way. How could desire to any race of beings procreate in the event that they have been gay. do no longer provide me the psycho-babble approximately technologies and stem-cellular study. as a results of fact till now we ever have been given as much as now of the understanding explosion interior the previous century or so, Their isn't any organic thank you to procreate with same intercourse couples of any type.

This answer is twofold. REAL Christians, Christians that try everyday to better themselves have a different standpoint on gays because they wake up every morning knowing they will sin and be homosexual, while REAL Christians that glutton and gossip try to do better from their sin, (eat less stop gossiping). I have never heard a gay, once they announced they were gay say they try to stop being gay. Gluttons mostly try to stop eating.
Christians who don't try as hard just do it because it is popular in the world today. Your standpoint and view on this is true on people that do not actually try.
Have a good day!

A much more apropos question would ask for a Christian to analyze his opinion of homosexuality and compare it with his opinion of fornication. Both are clearly identified as disqualifying their practitioners from God's Kingdom.
(1 Corinthians 6:9-10) Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.
While gluttony and gossip are certainly sins, they are more subjectively defined and not explicitly grouped with undeniably serious sins.

I agree, but you are comparing from two different perspectives. Christians have a specific perspective that makes it a sin as per the Bible, society has no absolutes (even in written laws) thus has a different perspective...what is your point?

I really wish that the Christian right would make gluttony and greed such hot topics as gays or abortion or drugs.
It would make them a lot less hypocritical and appeal to people who are alienated by that.

The healthnuts (vegans, low carbers, low transfatters, etc) already have gluttony taken care of.
Christians excuse their way out of guilt associated with gossip by saying they will pray for (_insert_gossip_here_).

Believe it or not, not all of us have hissy's over gays. Personally, I've got enough of my own sins to deal with so can't be bothered throwing any stones at anyone else.

No one is asking for government-endorsed gluttony. No one is asking for government-endorsed gossip. Homosexuals do, they want the government to specifically endorse them. Why can't the government ever be neutral and secular? Neither condemn gluttons, gossipers, or homosexuals, but do not endorse those acts either.

I think criticism is a much greater sin. It has the potential to destroy the person's spirit. Let's look for ways to build our brothers and sisters up instead of tearing them down.
