The more I read the bible the more questions I have and the less it makes any sense.

Why would this be with the whole "Ask, Seek, Knock" thing?

That's because you need to go to God with your questions, not us. God is not a part of the microwave Generation. Sometimes you have to wait for an answer. Also, most of your questions about the bible are answered there. The ones that are harder, should not be asked in this kind of forum you will never get a straight answer.

The Christians do seem to think that people who are of different religions or of no religion have Bibles laying around. As a Pagan and ordained minister I do happen to have a Christian Bible around and I do read it. Sadly I have to say that I tend to get different or more questions from the passages that people suggest that we read.

There are many controversial parts in the Bible which are always being asked about. Many Biblical scholars are taking a stand that the Bible was a testiment of the time and a book used to help people lead a better life. The major problem comes when Christian radicals and country Bible scholars take the Bible to be correct to the letter and the controversial parts are meant to test ones belief. These people are able to believe without question their religious leaders and this makes for a very strong and unbending way to look at their own religion. They are right because Christianity is the true religion and everyone else is wrong.

Religion is a comfort and a path that people take to feel a part of a greater whole. I can understand this, but I wish they wouldn't embrace violence or hatred for others as a result.

We grow in Christ. Many who ask and answer questions on this and other forums are relatively young Christians (regardless of physical age). It is the same for non-believers who post here (except non-believers tend to be physically younger).
Until a Christians grows in his faith many of his responses to questions may be a bit short of a full answer. One thing all Christians know for certain is that the Bible does contain the answers. Many attempt to answer to the best of their ability and run up against the wall of inexperience, so they point the way to where solutions are known to be found.
Add to that the inability to make long, laborious posts in a forum such as this.
Taking the time to actually read the Bible for answers displays a desire to learn. Honest, diligent searching will be rewarded. But by the same token the Bible will never give up any evidence of falsehood against itself. If that was even remotely possible some scholar would have exposed the falsehood in the last two thousand years.
Just as children need their parents to explain to them, young Christians need the guidance of the church elders to direct their path. If you really seek answers perhaps it would be best to approach the problem with humbleness?

Seeking knowledge in the bible is like digging for gold. You have to persist in your search but more important ask the assistance of the Spirit. Before you open yr bible pray to God to provide you with the insight required to understand the meaning of what you read and make the necessary changes in your life in accordance to His will. That has never - not once - failed.Keep asking questions and the answers will come to you, sometimes thru the mouth of people, or the books you read. Never give-up cause God never does.Sooner or later it will start making sense, stories will link to each other and before you know it a clear mental picture will appear in your mind that will warm-up your heart and fortify your faith.

The same problem occurred to me until I read the history of how the bible was created and how people have perversely used the bible to their own ends.

I then took a step back from the Bible, took the items I needed for my life as a Christian which were the ten commandments, the Lord's prayer and the parables and simply put the Bible aside as still the same precious book it meant to me.

By all means read a tract in the Bible but let the feelings that God puts in you act as your guide then close it and not let every human written word in it rule your life.

Not all christians tell you to look to the bible for biblical answers, some of us actually get that that's where you got the question in the first place. I've had this happen to me before, and I've been a christian a long time and have read the bible, yet that doesn't mean that once in a while, something just fails to make sense. Don't want to ask my pastor, the answer could literally take hours, so I understand where you're coming from.

I get confused too and I have been a Christian for many years. Write down your questions & scripture and go to seee a pastor of any nondenominational (most open minded) church. I believe that sometimes we need to be shepherded by other Christians in order to understand God's Word. Pray before you read and ask God to help you understand. Get a Bible study guide that you can go step by step with. There are awesome Bibles out there that explain some things (don't know the name of it) Read a bible that is user friendly like the NEW LIVING TRANSLATION OR BETTER YET - THE MESSAGE - WHICH READS LIKE A NOVEL. Good Luck.

God has provided us with teachers, ministers, preachers evangelists, missionaries to help get the answers that we need. Most churches have Bible Study, Sunday School and in these classes you can ask questions and answers will given to you. After you have gotten into the classes you will that then go to God, yourself and God will reveal answers to you. But, we all need in each other in this Christian Walk because we are all a part of the body of Christ. Christ that we are to love one another as He loves us. That means we are here for one another, to answer questions and anything else that does to be done help our brothers and sisters in the body of Christ.

i'm a preacher's kid and i've seen a lot of faking, pretending, but more than anything... just plain confusion... that's what pastor's are there for. call a local church. the bible has the answers, because it's from God, but if you haven't been a Christian that long, it's a little hard to understand. going to church is a good start. sunday school and all that good stuff!

If you look in a automobile repair manual and get your questions , would you then expect us to go a manual on surgical procedures` for your answers` ?? For "chicachi" quote about "God works in mysterious ways", just to let him know that NOWHERE in The Bible does the word "mysterious " appear !!! Also; Nothing The Lord teaches is a " mystery " to the ones` that understands , or has taken the time to study the Word .
