are you serious? why does any act of senseless violence occur? I could ask why countless acts of atrocities committed by most religions were committed and not get a decent answer. i'm going to go out on a limb and wager that more brutality has been done to hindus by christians than the other way around.

Umm, no, it was an isolated incident. The article was from May of 2000. Meaning that Hindus aren't running around beating people week after week or month after month, nor are they declaring Jihad every other week, nor do they bomb something every other week, etc.... If the Hindus were doing that sort of thing weekly, or at least often - then they would be considered terrorists.

Violence like this is ignorance. Someone had to instigate these people to violence for a reason. The usual reasons are almost always money /power. Christians have a right to go to India as long as hundreds and thousands of Indians come to the USA and apply to come to the USA...it seems that some Indians are just greedy and selfish and close-minded and violent like the people they claim to hate for being violent. Is free thought dead in India? Is the kind gentle word of God sooooo dangerous that a huge mob of people cowardly attack a few peaceful people. The next time we think we are justified in controlling thought and religion then it is good to remember how the brave intelligent educated and peaceful Indians tried to kill helpless Christians................and in all likelyhood the next day ask for a handout from the USA with no sense of guilt or shame or even pride. How low can those people sink as human beings? It certainly sounds to me like they need saving badly..........foregiveness yes....forgiven after a suitable jail term like any common criminal. The why almost doesnt matter anymore....a crime is a crime..........punish them for violent crimes......

Salam
I understand your point completely. If this was a Muslim group who beat the Christian Missionaries, they are labelled as "Jihadists" and get the front page of the newspapers. If any other group does it, it's just attributed to the violent nature of the culture and it gets thrown into the back pages of the news as a side-story almost.

The Voice of the Martyrs will tell you many stories about the same thing happening all over the world. Jesus, when He was on the earth, said that if the world hated Him, they would hate us. One of the most famous Apostles in the Bible was Paul. He was, himself, beaten 5 or 6 times with whips and rods for the gospel. Persecution has been constant for Christians throughout the ages; even at the hands of the Catholic Church. I'm not anti-Catholic. I'm just being truthful. I have Catholic friends. Anyway, I'm sorry they've suffered. I'm sorry there will probably be little done about it. The difference between the attackers and the victims will be when they stand before a pure and holy God.

They were probably feeling a bit threatened. Not that I'm defending them or anything because I still think its wrong to do such a thing. They were just protecting there religion. But I am against the idea of missionaries. You should let people believe what they want.
Just my two cents.

If Hindus participated in a religious campaign in Salt Lake City, the same thing would happen.

Christian missionaries deserve what they get.
They go around trying to convince people that they're wrong for being who they are. All they want to do is turn out more people like themselves to try and get a pass to heaven.
My advice would be : keep your cruel & dirty religion to yourself.
If you want to waste your lives on your knees feeling like an unworthy little servant, have at it. But there ARE those of us who want nothing to do with the likes of you.
You f--k with fire & you're going to get burned. They deserved what they got.
F--k them and every other self rightous missionary who wishes to spread thier sickness to others.

You would have to ask those particular Hindus. Are you blaming all Hindus for the acts of those criminals?
