Our Pledge of Allegiance says "One Nation Under God" I'm sure it's refering to the Christian God.

If you answer no, Should be throw the our Pledge of Allegiance away.

The Declaration of Independence second paragraph first sentence "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

What creator was he refering to? If it's God should we get rid of the Declaration of Independence also? The first paragraph actually mentions God.

Didn't the first people settle here because they wanted religious freedom?

I personally believe there is an ultimate reality we all tap into.
Most people attempt to explain it through various Gods or totems.

Every theist does this-all of us.

No one knows who's right, and to be honest, I doubt anyone sees this reality as it truly is.

But I don't think that matters.

I think the way we see it is usually a good way for us to understand it better, as long as we are careful not to project too much onto it-so much that it covers the real truth.

If you study various religions without bias, you'll realize they all have similar morals.

Yes lines of sacred texts can be taken out of context, and these texts are often misunderstood by those who don't understand the cultural symbolism within them.

If you scrape the top layer off any religion, you see similarities, like the Golden Rule, and honoring your parents, loving your neighbor, etc.

Perhaps these truths make it through because they are what is really important.

What do you guys think?

could someone with a little bit of wisdom tell me according to the scritures that elijah the prophet would return to the gentile churh ,=jesus even said this when they questioned him about john=was it a strange statement that the lord jesus stated TRUELY ELIJAH SHALL FIRST COME AND RESTORE ALL THINGS. WELL JESUS SAID ELIJAH WAS COMING BACK TO THE gentile church FOR THATS WHO HE WAS SPEAKING OF TO THE DECIPLES FOR THEY WHERE THE CHURCH IE THE BRIDE OF CHRIST .

The christian bible teaches that god is omniscient and omnipotent. This of course means that before god started creating the universe he knew the sin that would come to exist. Some interpret the bible to say that god will allow some of his creations to suffer for eternity in hell for turning away from him. Please share your thoughts on this topic without bringing up the concept of free will, as this contradicts the idea of an omniscient god. Thanks for your time.

Okay now that I have your attention I want to ask this.

Why is it so wrong for a person to be gay?
Why is an unmarried couple living together living in sin?
Why is it so evil to massage yourself(You know what I mean)?
Why isn't it allowed to use a condom or pill when it's worse to bring an unwanted child into the world?
Why is pre-marital sex so bad?
Why did god create evil and good, not just good and let evil be created by humans?
Why do we have to go to church every sunday or else be called bad catholics/christians/or whatever we are if I still comply with everything else?
Why is it that if we do something bad like lie or steal for a good cause it's still considered a sin regardless of the intention or reason for it?
Why didn't God help his son Jesus when he needed him the most and after he already did what he wanted him to do?

I want actual good reasons for these questions. I don't want to hear that because it's the rules. No tell me why these are the rules.

I am not talking about sky virgins and stuff.
Heaven and Hell cannot be scientifically proven.
I am talking about Islam's take on daily matters and worldy affairs. I think Islam has a more scientific take on some things, than Christianity. Am I wrong?

Who here respects the person as well as the belief of Christians who admit their Bible is no more perfect than any other sacred text? And that that is okay, and they have every right to believe in God anyway?

Because I do. But some of the people that have been answering my questions seem either in denial of reality or confused.

The Bible does NOT need to be perfect, if it helps you find God that's all that matters.

Why is it so important to people that it be "infallible"?

It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;

After asking why God didn't just send down the Bible so it would be perfect, and also perfectly translated into every language, most responses said that even if it was sent down that doesn't mean people would listen. Well of course not. We have freewill, right?

But that doesn't answer my question- why didn't he? How can the Bible possibly be infallible unless God, the only infallible being sent it down directly.

If humans are so horribly sinful, how can we trust them to right down God's message correctly?

And if it's possible to humans to be righteous enough to write it perfectly, as some of you believe they did, we can't be as sinful as you say, so why do we need "saving"?
