I am curious why there are so many people that seem to think that the KJV (King James Version) of the Bible is the ONLY one that is correct. It is simply just one of a number of translations out there. It is often cited though as being the only one, and I just don't get why that is.

I have seen some people talk about it as if it was the original Bible, but it is far from that. It was translated in 1611 I believe.. There were Bibles before it and Bibles after it.. Why is it so considered the only way to go?

I can understand if someone has a particular version that they believe is "the best" but I have seen more often than not that there are people that say the others are plain wrong.

I would just like some opinions on this.. and sources if you have them.

S ince I started practicing Buddhism and meditation my perspective of the world had completely change. For instance I am more relaxed, happy, and energetic. But the significant improvement I have seen is that; I am more conscious about the decision I make I am rational. Also meditating had helped my mind to be clear and luminous. My mind used to be occupied with so much negative thoughts.

Western religion seems unconcern about the mind and they concentrate on higher being to solve our problem like Jesus. I completely disagree with this philosophy I believe true peace and enlightenment can be accomplished through us through our mind.

Does anyone disagree?

Do you think too much concern with afterlife, would lead to less
concern with the current life, thus less science and technology?
And are most scientists Christians or Atheists?

I am a nurse and recently had a patient who kept telling people that she had only 30 days to live. We had no idea what she was talking about, and her doctor didn't either. She was ill, of course or she wouldn't have been in the hospital. She was not, however, deathly ill. On the 23rd day of her swearing that she was dying she called her husband and asked him to come to see her. He said that he would be in in the morning and she told him that it would be too late. She died in the middle of the night, that night. Her labs, x-rays and ct scans gave us no great concern, and yet she seemed to know. This is a true story and I am wondering if any of you think that it is possible that maybe people just know when their time is coming to an end?

" My holy book is right. He is wrong. "

This kind of notion brings people to murder one another, as was the case with Israeli Sharon's case when he visited a Mosque in a disputed Judeo-Islamic holy site and open gun fire from an angry mob ignited. These people are human, just like us, they believe in their Quarans like Christian fundamentalists do and most believe in waging a holy war. Would "God" approve of this?

I have recently come to respect Ramjet (christian) because he's funny and fair. Also Dog Sneeze because he's hip and intelligent. They're also both loving Christians, not judgemental ones. What about you?

Have you ever faced a faith test? How was it like? Did you fail it or did it strengthen your faith? And, for those who converted as adults, how much time after accepting Jesus Christ as your saviour did you face the trial?
Could you please share your experiences with me?
God bless you all

The way we are put together, how can people not believe we were made by God. Just the complexity of the body should make a believer of people.

They attack Christianity in terms that would obviously only apply to fundamentalists. Fundamentalists are the object of great interest to the mass media since their wild beliefs and public comments make great copy. But there are two billion Christians and only a few million evangelicals. They are regarded by most Christians as a lunatic fringe. Are atheists aware of this,or do they base their assumptions on the media? Or are they simply hypocrites who know that they can abuse Christianity by exploiting fundamentalism's low-brow and ultra-conversative character?

Because someone told you?
Because you have some Bible verses taken out of context?
Because you go to Church?
Because you have a fish sticker on your car?
Because you wear a t-shirt with a Bible message?
Because your no different than others at your Church?

2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?
