I have 2 poems I want to enter in my schools poetic pogram which one is better?

RoseBud
It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
When in my hands they fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?
So I'll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day.
I will look to him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.
The pathway that lies before me,
Only my Heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.

Tongues

We speak in tongues

Of different flavors

We build our societies

On each others labor

We are dark or light

And rich or poor

We worship different gods

And kneel on the floor

We killed our cousins

Because of their skin

We saw that without

And ignore that within

But regardless we sleep

Regardless we cry

Regardless we leap

And regardless we die

Take a less from Death

Treat all the same

Learn from Death

To remain humane

They are both really good poems, however

I like Rosebud the best..it offers a quiet beauty and we need more of that in this world...its a really good poem.

Entering both might be an option. If you have to choose one, I believe 'Rosebud' is the better choice. The metaphor is more memorable.

You're a truly gifted poet. Good luck.

'Rosebud' would be my choice. Not only is it absolutely beautiful; it flows and has visuals. I think the piece is well thought out and good enough to be sold. Thank you for the pleasure I got from reading both. You are very gifted.

They are both good, but I really like the second one. By the way, is line 17 of the second one suppose to be "Take a lesson from Death" or "Take a less from Death"? If it is the latter, I'm not sure that line makes sense, at least not to me... At any rate, great job on those, they're really good.

A lot depends on the school where you are entering the poems. IN general public school teachers will probably like the second poem more not because they really like it more but because the first one smacks of religion and public schools are religion-phobic.

Personally I like Rose Buds, BUT they are both fine forms of poetry, can you enter both?

I like the message as the second, but as far as the poetry and imagery goes, I like the first one more.

SEEK HIS FACE...to open up your life. U can understand life and God if u do. Thats for the first one blind child....As God says to u it is uknown to u, for only his hand can do it. SEEK HIM.

2nd one......humanity walks in the image of the beast........again seek to find how to walk in his image. Ask God to open your eyes to him. Don't just walk blind in the blood.
