I'd like to think that it would be the stranger, but, damn, I really love my dog. Okay, the stranger....no, the dog....um, the stranger...No, the dog...!

(Note to self: don't take dog near the RR tracks.)

First, my cat is not my "pet." She is my companion, best friend & gives me uncondtional love of which most humans are incapable. I cannot see why I would place a higher value on a stranger. I have a loving bond with my cat, & her spirit is every bit as important s the spirit of someone I don't even know. The human "might" have something to contribute, or "might" be a potential serial killer. I know my cat. I would save her in a heart beat. If God is loving, God loves all living things equally.

A stranger. A human life will always be worth more than a pet.

The stranger, I think a human life is worth more than an animal's. I'm not sure what this question is doing in the R&S section though...

I'd do my damnedest to save both. But my dog for sure, I can elbow the other person out of the way while collecting the dog. I know I could do it, I have had to before, and it wasn't fun. The dog was at least thankful : )

I'd save the stranger. They have a soul. It would suck losing my pet but the stranger's soul would definitely be worth it.

I would yell at my kitty "Patchouli you silly cat! Get off the tracks!" and save the stranger. I love my cat, but she is an animal.
