The Mormons are not really firm in what they believe. Joseph Smith rewrote the Bible, at one point, but his version is not what the LDS use as scripture, instead they use the KJV. IF they believe that Joseph Smith was given the "restoration" of the gospel, why don't they use his translation of the Bible? Was he a prophet that had the inspired word of God? Evidently even the LDS church does not think so, or they would use his version of the Bible.

"EXTENT OF THE CHANGES. Joseph Smith made extensive corrections and additions to the books of Genesis, Exodus, Psalms, Isaiah, Matthew, Luke, Romans, 1 Corinthians, Galatians, Hebrews, James, 2 Peter, and Revelation. He also made many alterations in the writings of the Old Testament prophets and in Mark, John, Acts, and several of the epistles. He made no changes in Ruth, Ezra, Esther, Ecclesiastes, Lamentations, Obadiah, Micah, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Malachi, Philemon, 2 John, and 3 John.

For instance, to believe there is such a thing as a black hole requires faith in another person...an astronomer or physicist. It even takes faith in the author of the article you read about black holes in. For that matter, it takes faith that your eyes see the right words, that you see at all rather than imagine it, and that you even exist in the first place...and thusly regresses to a base level of faith...faith in one's senses. But what about faith in logic? What about faith in the scientific process actually doing what we want it to (it is assumed that past events will dictate future events, and we proceed based on faith that they actually will). But when you decide to have faith in this religious text, or that one, we agree, it is quite a different story. So, where SHOULD our faith begin and where should it end, to be honorable, responsible beings throughout life?

It's a win-win situation for me. If the ghost ends up whooping my a$$, I'll be rich and famous. Every news outlet from Diane Sawyer to Matt Lauer would want the exclusive and all the ghastly details. If the ghost is my friend, I still be rich and famous for the being the first guy to talk to a spirit and actually have enough sense to videotape it!!!! So please......... no BEWARE rants. Just show me how to use the board!!!!

I really don't need advice but wonder how others would view this...I was a cancer nurse for many years and gave doctor ordered chemotherapy to patients in the hospital. Gradually, I decided that chemotherapy was not the ideal therapy for cancer and that I had inadvertantly harmed people while thinking I was helping them. So what would my culpability be in contributing to their ultimate deaths? Any thoughts?

Don't worry I have resolved this issue in my mind but it is a good example of how wrong doing or 'sin' is pretty much in the mind of each individual...

So would God hold me accountable or is my Karma bad?

"Christianity is not a religion.It's a belief."

"I don't believe in religion.I have faith."

"Don't call me religious.I am faithful."

Statements like these are just splitting hairs.Christianity is a religion.Albeit there are many denominations of it.But it is all a religion.Faith, in fact, is part of the definition of religion and so to have faith in a God and follow religious texts (the Bible, Koran,Torah) and to go to places of worship are by definition to be a person who practices and is a part of religion.

If you doubt that you should actually see the dictionary definition of religion.

So, why do people try to split hairs and differentiate the meanings of the word "faith" from the word "religion" even though there is no difference?

i mean he is the most intelligent creature among the living beings ,then why is he the only one to come up with god to explain things which are too complex for him to understand ???
why is it so difficult for man to accept that the "feeling of his existence " is all due to the extemely complex neuron structure of our wonderful brain
why dont people believe that we have no purpose???
why can't a human brain(with all its intelligence) live with the fact that there is no life after death ,that we are like a living battery ????

I"ve heard a lot of things about your religion, and while I'm sure many of them are true, I'd like to hear it from Mormons, just so I know for sure what you believe.

Is Jesus the son of God?

Did Jesus die for our sins?

What is Satan's relationship to Jesus and God?

Where do we go after we die?

Do you believe in the trinity (ie. Father, Son, Holy Spirit = one deity)?

Did you know if i was arrested for indecent exposure and had a good lawyer and claimed that it was my religious freedom the case would be dropped. It is the courts policy to not chanenge claimed religious freedoms, unless murder is involved.

If you violate the rules and are punished, does that make you blessed?

"Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Or does violating the rules to allow yourself to CLAIM persecution not count?

So I think it's only fair that if gays aren't allowed to marry because it is sanctioned as a holy ceremony "created" by Christianity, that Christians are no longer allowed to: listen to Cher, Elton John, or Barbara Striesand, dress well, "hug a buddy", go to the gym, watch a movie with someone of the same sex, have dinner together, go to the beach together, live together, have a drink together (or a Cosmopolitan for that matter), wear clothes deemed snug fitting, be comfortable in acting outside the "regulated gender stereotypes" (no tomboys or sensitive guys), watch "Jerry Maguire" "Mission Impossible" or any other movie starring Tom Cruise, read any tabloid/magazine not clearly marketed to your specific gender, men cannot eat salads, women no red meat, or see a Broadway show, because clearly those are arenas designated to be shared between a man and a man, or a woman and woman. Otherwise it is an abomination and will ultimately unravel the fabric of family values.
