If the Bible says it, do you believe it?

Considering that there are several places where the Bible contradicts itself, it logically cannot be absolutely, unquestionably true.

Here are just a couple such contradictions.

God good to all, or just a few?
PSA 145:9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
JER 13:14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

Who is the father of Joseph?
MAT 1:16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
LUK 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli.

Jesus' last words?
Matt.27:46,50: "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, eli, lama sabachthani?" that is to say, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" ...Jesus, when he cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost."
Luke23:46: "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, "Father, unto thy hands I commend my spirit:" and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."
John19:30: "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished:" and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."

With these sorts of obvious contradictions, it should make any intelligent person wonder what else in the Bible may not be true or accurate.

Furthermore, it should make any intelligent person wonder what's going on in the head of anyone who believes the whole Bible is absolutely, unquestionably true. (For one thing, it is clear that they have not READ it.)

God teaches all who read the word. I have yet to find a lie or a promise not kept. Atheists tend to get wrapped up in semantics and word play. I concede there may well be factual errors from translation and Constantine messing with the Bible. That is why I read more than just one version and I have read the Dead sea scrolls and more. God reveals His truths to believers in Him. my faith doesn't depend on the Bible but from my everyday walk with God. There are fanatics in all religions, there always will be but I do not believe that that is God it is people's personalities. Christ never treated anyone that way, but the religious leaders who were twisting the words of God and leading people away from God. That still happens today. People aren't born atheists they become that way because they have seen how the world twists the truth. Try to keep an open mind and don't look for the proof through the eyes of the world.

If you believe that the bible is the inspired word of God, and you believe that God is the creator of the world, then you would believe that the bible would be absolutely true, unquestionably true, without a doubt, yes.

Oh yea! And that is why the oldest bibles in the Sinai of Egypt have been shown to have parts where they were given the ancient "white out" treatment. Then written over to say something else. Why is it that people like the catholics have more books than say the King James version of the Baptists Bible. It is obvious. People didn't like what those books had to say, despite the fact that they are some of the most original, authentic, and important early christian writings. I could go on for days on the ridiculousness of this topic. If you don't think for yourself your are forcing someone else to do it for you and that is the definition of moron. Peace.

Yes! The bible was written by man but it was God who spoke to those men to wright it. This is the way God gave us directions to live, I don't believe God would expect us to go through life without direction. It is Gods word. in the years I have seen pass when I was younger there were parts of the Bible that had not come to past yet, now it has!
The Bible was written so long ago and every thing that was predicted has been coming true, there is no reason to believe the rest of it won't.

Yes, but that does not mean I fully understand what the Bible is saying. It is easy to read personal and cultural bias into a text.

First, what is "the Bible"? The original, still used by Catholics and Eastern Orthodox,or the Anglican, which dropped seven books? What to speak of the many contradictions between the jewish teachings of the Hebrew bible (OT) and the teaching of Christ in the Gospel & letters of the apostles. As to whether this or that is an interpolation or an original aspect of the text - or which books are divinely inspired or not, that is a matter of divergent opinion from one denomination to the next (though rest assured the fundies are always right). The answer is,not neccessaritly, takes a bit of thought, probably simplest to follow the prompting of your denomination.

Yes

Why ?

2 Timothy 3:16,17 "16 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work."

Well, if God wrote the bible, and God is absolute truth, then that would make the bible absolutely true as well. So whether or not you believe it's true depends on whether you believe God is who he says he is.
