Science and history tell us that a great deluge did occur in the Mediterranean or Black Sea area, and most probably was caused by a seismic event of some kind. It shows up in a multitude of cultures surrounding that area. Most myths and stories start with something real. There may have been an actual person who survived it on a boat of somekind and that got it started. However, the Noah's Ark story in the Bible is metaphorical related to the spiritual journey within. It's about self awareness, preparation, trust in your internal guidance system - as opposed to what people tell you, discernment - only accepting what is fruitful and productive into your thought system, etc.

I do, I do!! There are many accounts of a large boat being found on the top of Mt. Ararat. Also there is a great book called 'Noah's Ark a Feasibility Study' by John Woodmorappe. You might want to check it out if you are REALLY searching to find if it could even be possible.
additional info...God didn't tell Noah to fit every animal on the Ark...only 2 of each KIND and in the before mentioned book there is a VERY exhaustive study about what a 'kind' is (i.e. he didn't have to take 2 great danes and 2 boxers and 2 poodles and, and, and, he just had to take 2 DOGS!!) and how they came to that conclusion and YES he could get them on the ark. Even to the point of the specific genes that could be carried through to the many different types of dogs that we have today (MICROevolution) Also, there IS an explanation as to what happened to the water. You just have to be willing to read another point of view than evolution and it does make perfect sense. Really, just read the book for yourself and be open to the fact that it just might have happened and THEN make up your own mind.

I do. Jesus even related to it in Matthew 24:37 and Luke 17:26.
But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Now, we all know that a thief does not announce his attention! You don't realize a thief has broken in, ransacked your dwellings and stolen your valuables, until you return, and see the chaos in the aftermath!
And just think, some still disbelieve the rapture.
Just remember! It wasnt raining when Noah built the ark.

The rush for the door, did not start till the dark
clouds started to gather, and the first drop of rain (a symbol) of God’s Judgment, started to fall!
Because, today, the dark clouds are approaching!
We can hear and see it daily on our Local and National News Broadcast. And after the event of 9-11, it made a change in this nation and a change in the world for that matter. It caused
a change that will ever be. Things will never be the same as they were on 9-10. It changed us, and, its changing the Nations around us.

Well, I believe that there may have been a man named Noah, and that he may have built an ark. But, I don't necessarily believe the animal part of it.
However, as there has been archeological proof that there WAS a high level of water in that area, I do believe in the flood. But, I do not believe that it was a "World" flood. If you think about it, though... back then, their little area of the earth WAS the world! So, any type of huge flood, back then, would have seemed like a "worldly flood" to anyone.
What we must realize is that the Bible is not meant to be read historically; but rather, spiritually. The stories are allegory and metephorical in most senses. While there may be truth in the history, that is not the whole reason for the story itself.

Since you are asking a question only so that you can pick out people to make fun of, it really doesn't deserve a good response. No one today was there, and there is science and history to back up any number of theories concerning the flood. Perhaps you should state the inherent danger in believing in such a thing, since you seem to find it imperitive to tell those who believe that they are foolish. Then maybe someone will actually listen to you, or the other side who seem to want to answer you to let you know that there are more opinions out there in this world.

A large catastrophic regional flood.
No rain in the memory of the people.
Many perceptions were recorded as truths.
The moral of the story is the important part. God guides his faithful people and uses them as his instruments in this world. He is just and allows disastrous consequences for sin filled lives.

There might have been a local flood and someone named Noah built an ark and collected animals. But the whole thing sounds a bit farfetched for a world-wide flood.
And, yes, I am a Theist.

I believe that there was a flood. I'm not sure I believe that it spread over the whole earth. Ancient people's understanding of the world and our understanding are very different.

I think we should get together around 6-10 people who believe it, and give them some natural resources and nice living conditions in an otherwise uninhabited land, and see how long it takes them to either re-populate the land or die out of inbreeding.

I do. I'm a story junkie...besides, the idea that people were so godless that there was only one really good man amoung them all is not that far-fetched. It's happening today before your very eyes. Evil abounds in this modern society. We even take it for granted and become inured to it.
