I get depressed in this section sometimes. So many people have such a bleary outlook toward God (I use that loosly to refer to all perceptions), towards people, and towards life.

Why is it so hard to believe that it's okay to simply enjoy our lives as long as we don't harm anyone else? I mean, it's important to take time to help others, but that can be fun, and rewarding.

I think religion is taking so much joy out of life, and I think the very religious country I live in (the US) is depressed and on tons of meds for a reason. Did you know they've done studies on happiness, and we are a very unhappy country despite our wealth?

I believe God would want us to enjoy the life we are given, completely. Every second of it. This whole sin thing is such a drag. Just be a good person, that's it. It's not that hard. Yeah, we're not perfect, but I think I do pretty well most of the time, so I know it's not impossible.

This negative energy gets me down. How about you guys?

We ask people to pray and agree with us about an issue or specific problem. They are alive not dead. Isn't it true that the dead know nothing about this world once they have departed?

Matthew 7 (Jesus speaking to the Pharisees)
9"Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Romans 2-
13For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. 14(Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, 15since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.)

No, I don't mean right now at this very second, but in your scripture studying.

I've just started Ephesians, although I still need to go back and finish the OT. I got bogged down in Isaiah.

I think any GOD loving individual is always against violence of any kind towards another individual.

No where in the Bible does it speak of harming anyone, if people were harmed it was up to GOD and his wrath when it comes to Sin.

I agree as Christians we are not to judge other people..HOWEVER are we not allowed to quote biblical scripture where GOD has pointed out certain human acts or behaviors as sinful???

...No doubt about it, people lie, people cheat, steal people have committed homosexual acts, infidelity, fornication

GOD did not say theses people are unworthy jerks he did say these acts are and we should repent of our sins...It might not be PC in today's age but that does not omit what is written in the Bible unless you want to condemn the Bible as Hate Speech
Thoughts?

Dear Dr. Laura,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's law. I have learned a great deal from you, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind him that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to best follow them.

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. How should I deal with this?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as it suggests in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may buy slaves from the nations that are around us. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans but not Canadians. Can you clarify?

I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 10:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

Lev. 20:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear prescription glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Was at a museum the other day and the guide told me that he was an atheist but he was interested why "Jesus" means "Salvation to Jehovah" and yet the churches don't call God by that name and say Jesus is God. Can all you churchgoers explain?

For Christians is your faith strong enough that in the days to come you are willing to lay down your life? If God asked you to stay behind after the rapture to help save others, would you be willing to live through all that for others?
For those of other beliefs would you die for your beliefs and please explain.

This is from a documentary I saw on PBS a few years ago.

“The Australian hammer orchid has taken advantage of a mating ritual of the Thynnid wasp, which involves a female wasp waiting on top of a branch or plant for a male to spot her. The hammer orchid's flower mimics the female wasp looking upward for a male flying by, complete with a fake shiny head and furry body. The orchid even releases an enticing female wasp pheromone.”

The development of this and 10,000 other flowers that lure insects is explained through evolution. I can understand how natural selection could promote this flower over one without a wasp pheromone. I can understand how mutation could change the smell or shape of the flower so that after 10 million years we have thousands of different flowers that evolved from one. What I can’t believe is how any of this can explain how a flower could end up looking and smelling like a bee that can lure real bees to transfer pollen.

Help me understand.

So many people think and act as though because someone says something that offends them that they are somehow oppressed. Doesn't being oppressed mean that no one would be allowed to have opposing opinions rather than just being offended because someone else has the freedom to think differently?

Do you still believe that Noah built the Ark to survive the Flood?

Do you still believe Moses saved the Jews from the Pharoah?

Do you still believe Adam was the first man? And that Eve was the first woman, formed from Adam's rib?

Do you still believe the Ten Commandments were given to Moses on Mount Sinai?

If so, then why do you discredit the laws in the Old Testament?

If you disregard part of it, you can't pick and choose which parts to follow or believe.
