By giving people so many different levels of intelligence, physical strength and dexterity and even creating people with bodies and minds that are weakend from the very beginning, how can God be giving us all freedom of choice to do what we want with out lives. I mean...there still could have been different characteristics to make us individuals, but why not give us all equal oppurtinites in life?

Qur'an 5:37 "The [Christian] disbelievers will long to get out of the Fire, but never will they get out there from; and theirs will be an enduring torture."

Qur'an 8:12 "Your Lord (Allah) inspired the angels with the message: ‘I will terrorize the unbelievers. Therefore smite them on their necks and every joint and incapacitate them. Strike off their heads and cut off each of their fingers and toes."

Qur'an 13:5 "Those who deny will wear collars and chains, yokes (of servitude) tying their hands to their necks; they will be the inmates of Hell.... They will witness Our (many) exemplary punishments! Verily, your Lord (Allah) is severe in retribution."

Qur'an 74:26 "Soon will I (Allah) fling them into the burning Hell Fire! And what will explain what Hell Fire is? It permits nothing to endure, and nothing does it spare! It darkens and changes the color of man, burning the skin! It shrivels and
scorches men."

no it's not. If you became a Christian because you're afraid of a God who's going to torture you in hell for all eternity then that's not faith. Think about that and ponder that . How can you love someone who is threatening to torture you for all eternity? It's impossible. Just admit the fact that you are afraid of being tortured so you became a Christian because of your fear of going to hell. There is no other reason to become a Christian.

I have read about it on this forum and have done the google search for it, but I have yet to find out what it really is.

Do I need to go to a book store and buy it? Can I find it by asking for a copy of “Pascal’s Wager”?

Please help and direct me to the source.

Thank you!

I am a firm believer in God. I pray all the time, but for little things (like keeping my friends and family safe, happy). Lately, I have been praying for something a little bigger. My friend just lost her brother to suicide a few months ago, and his birthday was last week. I cannot even begin to describe to you how much she is suffering from this. I have been praying to God to help her, and to take her pain away. I have been encouraging my friends to pray for her too, but some of them (all of them believe in God) tell me that God can't answer every prayer, and that some prayers are just too much to ask of him. Do you think that God would answer this prayer? And how do you think he would go about it if he would? Answers from people who are believers in God only, please. I don't need anyone telling me that God isn't real, I've already made up my mind.

In a speech in Turkey, found: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/speeches/2006/november/documents/hf_ben-xvi_spe_20061128_pres-religious-affairs_en.html
Pope Benedict quotes Pope Gregory VII in 1076 saying the following about Christianity and Islam:
“because we believe in one God, albeit in a different manner, and because we praise him and worship him every day as the Creator and Ruler of the world.”
I'm not commenting on the quote, but can anyone find a site for the original quote... I need to reference it!! Thanks

i was just doing a little reading.. and found this:

Darwin famously treated the subject of eye evolution in his Origin of Species:
"To suppose that the eye, with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree."

what do you think?

so if that's the case and there really is a God and he KNOWS that atheists are choosing to burn in hell, why does he LET them? ok i guess you people will say that atheists refuse to obey God..but if God really is almighty, can't he prove his existence? can't he do SOMEthing to make them believe?

if God really loves everyone why doesn't he do EVERYthing possible to save them from their (so called) doom?

e.g.if a child disobeys his mother and runs towards a fire,a mother will not stop by just TELLING him/her to stop.she'd do ALL she could...

i'm sorry don't mean to offend anyone..just want some answers on this..

Many Atheists always associate all Christians, Roman Catholic and Protestants, with the Crusades, when only the Roman Catholic Church was responsible...

Many Atheists say that Atheism had no influence over Stalin's or Mao's behavior, but isn't that like saying that a belief in God had no influence over Abraham or Moses or Jesus, when rather conspicuously it did?

Why do Atheists struggle to separate Atheism from Communism when it undoubtedly was an integral part of Stalin's Russia and Mao's China and the Communism that governed the two countries?

To say that Atheism had nothing to do with the atrocities perpetrated by these two mass murderers is like saying that Hitler was not influenced by whatever madness he suffered from....

What do you think, of course, Atheists included?

I hear a lot of people claim that all religions teach the same concepts of equality, charity, peace and basic morality. If you compared the life and teachings of Jesus with the life and teachings of Mohammed you would get a very different message though. For example Jesus' forgiveness of the adulterer and commanding the crowd not to throw stones or Mohammed ordering an adulterer to be buried up to her chest and stoned.
(Hadith Muslim vol.3, book 17, no. 4206) He also personally beheaded 600 Jewish captives personally (according to Muslims own Holy texts) “Allah’s apostle killed all the able adult men, and he took all women and children as captives. Rayhana a beautiful young Jewish girl was taken by Allah’s apostle as booty” (Hadith Bukhari 143 page 700) He also had a sexual relationship with a 9 year old. To compare these two religions is dishonest or ignorant. Its true that Christians have done just as bad things but if they followed Jesus' teachings and example they wouldn't have.

ok, I recently ran across a word, and for some reason the "pronounciation key" that was with it made no sense to me. It's from Old English, like before 900, and I already know what it means, but if some one could tell me how to pronounce "wærloga" I would really appreciate it.

You say believeing in god is crazy, but I have a problem believeing that the gases that caused the big bang where always here. Our minds can not comprehend something ALWAYS being here, just as one can not comprehend GOD completely. What is the difference of believe the two? Our human minds can not fully comprehend nor explain either. If you can have a big bang, from gases that have always been here, in a space that has always been, Then I can believe in a God who has always been.
