I like to write about personal experience and significant things in my life. I write songs as well.
But just to stay in practice I write a Daily Menu Poem for the folks at the remote Alaskan industrial facility where I work. Every day it's eight unique and fresh lines of silliness or social commentary. I always include what's on the dinner menu that evening. Keeps my skills sharp.

I don't write poetry anymore. I have been legally barred from doing so because my poems are just awful. I stick to prose. And I don't know where my inspiration comes from. I pack my brain full of interesting stuff and interesting stuff comes out of it.

The only time I write is when I'm severely depressed, and it's always dark gloomy stuff. I had a teacher tell me I reminded him of Poe, and the stories I told reminded someone else of Homer.

When I write I tell a story, there is always strife, loss, or conflict.

I only write when I am inspired to write. It come very easily, because it just seem to flow as if I were only the scribe and God was the author.

Wow, your life must be stupid.

I write when I am in love. And years later when I look back at the poems they do seem kinda stupid at times.
