The Jewish religion has a number of laws regulating the daily activities of life, including eating. There are several laws regarding what foods are acceptable for Jews to eat. Foods that are acceptable are "Kosher." BTW, "kosher" has nothing to do with cleanness. That's a bad translation of the word. Kosher should be translated as "fit" or "proper" as in fit or proper for eating.
As for pigs, there is a law about what mammals can be eaten by Jews. In order for a mammal to be kosher, it must both have true hooves and chew cud. Pigs have hooves, but no cud and are therefore not fit to for eating.

you do know that Judaism came first by several thousand years, right?
much Christianity in essence feels that jesus made the old law not apply, or something.
Islam simply disagrees, and considers the law to still be in effect.
Pigs are outlawed in the old testament law. ... which jews are generally supposed to follow.
so basically signifigantly observant MUSLIMS don't eat pork for the same reason signifigantly observant JEWS don't. remember, Islam is copying Judaism on this, not vice versa.

It is unclean. Seventh Day Adventists don't eat pork either. Likewise, some people in my religion don't eat pork either. It is usually the children of Aset but others don't for different reasons. I think the pig being unclean started with my religion actually. Some say it was theirs but I believe it was mine.

It's the same religion. It's right there in the old testament. Pretty close to the part about not eating shrimp either, but most people ignore that one for some reason.

'...because they might be eating their ancestors', that's the most retarded thing I've ever heard. Who the bloody hell lied to you? Muhammed got that idea from Judaism.
They don't eat pigs for the same reason you don't.

1500 BC, God gave Moses laws for food. The pig was on the unclean list. Gods laws for food are still beneficial today for a long healthy life. http://www.ucgstp.org/lit/gn/gn043/diet.html

Leviticus chapter 11 lists the dietary restrictions God gave to the nation of Israel. The dietary rules were never intended to apply to anyone other than Israel.

We are not the only religion that eating pork is prohibited. Actually in the Old Testament it is stated that man shouldn't eat swine ( pork) . so the Jewish and Christian people who follow the Old Testament don't eat pork, also. For further information , please read :

I would worry less about what you eat and worry more about the fraud you have accepted in Islam.
The truth is in Jesus Christ and if you deny him as Lord, you will never be right with God no matter how much chicken you eat.
