Please forgive my ignorance of Buddhism. Plus I am not very good with words. I am Lutheran. I had a talk with my mother today, and asked her is it possible that Buddhists also believe in a Higher Power. Christians have a statue of Jesus in our churches as do Buddhists in there's. I don't believe for one minute that God would send all Asians or any other nationality to hell just because. He is to Kind, Merciful, Forgiving, and Carring God. Bottom line; "Do Buddhists believe in a Higher Power? Once again, PLEASE forgive my ignorance. But I just have to know. Thanks a lot for your answers.

Especially with non-belief running at 60% both here and in Israel. Also, how can a person be Jewish if they don't beleve in Judeaism? To me that makes as much sense as an Anglo-Saxon calling himself a Christian because his grandparents were Episcopalians. Jews are not an ethnic group,so why do atheist Jews call themselves Jews,or more to the point why are they accepted as such by practicing Jews? Also, since secularization diminishes Christianity,at least theoretically, is it viewed as advantageous to Jews who consider Christianity the source of antisemitsm? If so,what about blow-back? Isn't an increasingly secular society going to take it's toll on Jewish youth and in fact haven't we seen that happen? Please serious responses, from both American and Israeli Jews.

especially in the "Religion and Spirituality" (spirituality... yeah, right!) section? If one dares to say that no religion is better than other, you'll be given thumbs down by almost everybody, which makes be believe that people are, indeed, spiritually blind.

The word 'homophobes' doesn't really cover it, because they also exist outside believers in God.

Fundamentalists is too broad to describe it.

"People who condemn homosexuals based on the Bible" is just a too long sentence for a lazy guy like me.

So far I only can think of "Scriptosexuals", but that also doesn't really please me.

Any ideas?

i always thought that yes god did create everything but i always thought that evolution was the means in which he made/makes life (from a more indepth point of view anyway) why can't it be one and the same, why can't we just get along?

earlier, after a lot of controversy, the ten commandments became laws that americans have to abide by. Now normally, I would be just fine because a lot of the commandments are just commen sense, but I have issues with commandments 1 and 4. 1- do not worship any other god than C/I/J god. and 4. keep the sabbath holey. I am a r/o neutralist. now, I beleive that all religions are unintentionally worshiping the same mystery god. and so if some one finds out I am a neutral and don't beleive in C/I/J god, I could get arested until I convert. also neutralists do not have a sabbath and worship is cosidered useless in the neutral religion. so, basically if I am cought on a sunday not worshiping, I could get arrested. I know I will never convert and I beleive what I beleive. I would like to know, who thinks the ten command ments as laws are a bad idea too. please no "good luck in hell" comments.

Some of you call the Church bigot's if we do not accept gay marriage or the gay life style but my question is what are you called if you don't accept Jesus Christ or Christians? Remember the bible does teach against the gay life style (Romans 1:18-32) so it is an oxymoron to say that you love God, which includes His Word, but willfully do what you think is right in your own eyes without repentance or even conviction! Are gay people or people who don't believe in God to be called bigot's as well because they do not accept God's truth/the bible (in many cases with a foul disdain)? You see, the so-called hate bashing flows both ways my friends and no one can say it's one sided! I'll admit that not all people in the world who claim to be Christians are actually walking it out, but for those of us who are and are trying our best to live up to God's standards, why should the Church be raked if we do not accept the practice of a gay union?

I've recently (within the past six months or so) begun my spiritual search and think that I might be gearing towards recommitting myself to the Christian faith. Before I do so, I have a few conflicts and questions I need to resolve. What books, besides the Bible, would you recommend? I loved Mere Christianity and am in the middle of The Case for Christ right now. Thanks for your input.

You gotta admit, they have guts for blatantly lying, and then hypocritically and magically declaring a lack of enemy evidence even when they haven't produced a shred.

The only way to deny evolution is basically to deny the scientific process, and therefore you are denying reality itself. So I suppose a few more lies doesn't phase the creationists.

Although those guts are borrowed from a dogmatic belief in God. Your thoughts?

I want to know this for my own personal use. I need to know where in the bible it talks about how we should view God. I know it says put him first. But where does it talk about what he should mean to us. Or where in the bible does someone in the bible talk about what God means to them. Thanks for your help.
