And just how many of ALL preachers, including priests have turned out to be extreme perverts..., and how many exteme perverts have hidden behind "the good guys" mask that are in OTHER professions: like teachers, 'cub' leaders, scout masters, coaches, and others who are involved with children...., even like the next door neighbor!
Reason for all is the same: people who have maybe been "perverted" as children themselves and have demonic idiation and immaturity levels that comes from self-absorption beyond belief! Sick sinners is who!

Deficiencies in their relationship with Jesus Christ, lack of accountability, and verbal "over-compensation". This is not a true representation of Who Jesus is. Jesus does love these men so very much and they can truly turn to him at any time. They should also submit to discipline and exhibit a lifestyle of "walking the walk" before they "talk the talk" again.
Acts 1:1 tells us that Jesus Christ DID and TAUGHT.
The same can also be Scripturally substantiated concerning the first apostles. Jesus is the Pattern for His Church.
Please remember that for every preacher who has fallen into perversion, there are probably hundreds who really do have a present relationship with Jesus ( as their Friend and Lord) and are growing in their love for Him and mankind.
Note: But for the Grace of God, so go I.

It is a shame that so many family values preachers are such perverts. Look at Haggard. Look also at several republican politicians who preach the saving of marriage and yet themselves have divorced multiple times. Hypocrits are common among religious types.

Because there are a lot of phonies out there. This is not a condemnation of either family values, or preachers. It is just a warning that you need to be skeptical.
The same warning applies to politicians (they lie constantly) and pop scientists (of the Global Warming variety).

There is big money in religion and attracts the worst type of people. There is a guy that did a study and found that over 50 percent of preachers have prison records? Interesting.

It's very sad, wish I knew why too. Maybe they were always after the wrong things, fame, money, etc, instead of truly following God's calling in their lives. Or maybe they were just corrupted by it later... Who knows?
One guy who I believe would never fall like that is Rick Warren (Purpose Driven Life). He seems to really have a good grasp of what we are here to do. Wanted to end on a positive note!

Because we are all fallen creatures and as such susceptible to all the temptations known to man...Christians are not perfect and if you ever hear one say they are....run as far and fast as you can....we are not super human...but I do admit some perceive us as thinking we are better than those who do not believe as we do....it makes for much better press when a Christian is shown to be fallible.....to point fingers at our humanity makes others feel better about their own misgivings. But I don't know about your term "so many"....percentage wise, I think we are very much ahead of the curve....like I said, the press will always make sure you know about it when one of us fail.

The thing is that more education means more freedom..and this freedom is not always used in a good way.
