Jesus said in Matthew 5:17 that He came to make the teachings come true. But in the 21st verse up to the 48th verse He didn't agree with the teachings. Please explain this to me.

Now that limbo is no more, how do you who have paid into this absurd idea in the past feel ? Would you like refunds ?
Was the idea scrapped because no one cared or payed attention anymore? How can the Church change doctrine overnight as the Catholic church has done on many occasions.
papal infallibility, a kinder gentler hell, meat on Friday, limbo

And if they truly believe, why not forfiet their medical care because heaven, they say, is a better place to be. Then why don't they hurry up and go there and leave the rest of us (evolutionists) alone? Go report to your god now please cuz I'm sick of hearing about Jesus, Allah and Mohammed.

Again, I ask you, why do you attack others!!?!?!? No, not all of you do, However, there are many of us that openly, and subtely, attack everyone else. Do you think this helps our cause? There are those that we will not reach, that is given, but there are many more who are on the fence and turned off by our rants and assaults against everyone else!! There is no reason for this. Yes, what we are taught is very specific, But... WE were not saved by hate and rants. WE were saved by compassion and forgiveness, the same things WE should be using to reach others.... You have told me to read the Bible in the past... My suggestion is that we all look again at it, look again at the LOVE that is the base of our Faith.... May the Stars light your path.....

They ask a question directed towards atheists, something like "oh yeah, atheists, if you're so smart answer THIS", proceed to demand a 5 hour university quality dissertation on evolutionary biology or the Big Bang or why atheists obviously hate Christians so very very much, and then wind up picking an answer from a fellow Christian who validates their own views and dismisses the atheists as lost or pathetic or closed minded, etc.

WHY???

Are people THAT desperate for someone to pat them on the head and say "you're right about everything, kiddo, and they're just big stupid-head losers"?

Im going through a lot of emotional problems and everyone tells me i should pray. But I start to lose hope because I feel like im not heard. My prayers are never answered. Is there a certain way to do it? I try to trust in the Lord but I dont think he hears me. I need him bad. Even though im from a religous family, I still dont know much about the bible and how things work.

"Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64 -Narrated 'Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he had sex with her when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death)."

Please give me any link (2 or 3 would be better) that would direct me to a valid English translation of the Qu'ran?

I am also seeking any explanation for marrying someone at 6years of age and consumating that marriage when the person is only 9 years old. (Any medical evidence or data would also be appreciated).

I spent the last week on vacation with my cousin. We had some long talks and I never realized how religious she is. She never realized how non-religious I am. We talked for hours and went through all the arguments for and against religion. It was very enlightening, but I have to say I'm still not getting it.

She gave me a book, "The Case For Faith, A Journalist Investigates the Toughest Objections to Christianity" Lee Strobel.

I plan to read it when I finish this quarter (I'm a student) but I'm wondering if anyone else has read it and whether it's worth my time.

Thanks.

Hello...
My boyfriend and I are having a debate of who pays for what when baptising a child. We were selected to baptise a friends baby and I was always told that the godparents pay for the childs outfit, candle, rosary ect. and that they cooperate with the after party. He thinks that the after party is fully the parents responsibility. Can someone please help?

on the prophecy saying jesus would be a decendant of king david... looking over their genealogy, there's over 30 generations between them. let's just say king david had 2 children, which was an extremely small family back then, many families had as many as 15 children back then. so let's just say for the sake of this question each generation had 2 children. by the time the family line had made it to jesus, the number of decendants would be 2 to 30th power. assuming no inter-family marriages of any kind, no cousins, or second cousins or anything like that marrying each other, you would have over 1 billion decendants. of course, this would be a bit hard to believe. certainly people were marrying distant relatives of theirs from time to time, so let's just say 1/100 of that were actually decendants. that's still 10mil. decendants. and only in that generation. hardly seems like an impossible thing to predict? seems more like stating the obvious than prophecy. your thoughts?

I was walking past his bowl and looked at him. Suddenly two arms and legs popped out and he leaped out of his bowl. He's sitting in my chair, eating my pretzels and drinking my root beer watching the movie Jaws, over and over. I told him I want to watch my favorited TV show, Going Fishing TV and he got very mean!

He said he won't leave until his girl friend (my pet monkey) evolves into a beautiful 6 foot blonde. I told him that she most likely won't be blonde and it could take 4.5 million years. He said he will wait. What can I do, he's taking over my home, someone HELP! What should I do?

Thank you again for your responses. It seems that in your fervor to support scientific theorems and methodology that science is failing to see the obvious that and realistic scientific knowledge gained is welcome by theists because it validates the teaching of Christianity that it is the creation that is the best proof of God. But, of course, you have proven that science is blinded by denial of that fact. It is not necessary to attack me and other Christians personally alleging that we do not see as you because we are intellectually inferior, deprived of training or brainwashed into believing in God without reason. Personally, I have a degree in biology and do have some knowledge of scientific theory as do many other Christians. Most of us do not resemble the caricature you create for us and persisting to label us this way does not support your statements of being open to intelligent design. Are you really or just making excuses for your closed minds?

Since apparently it's atheist hour on R&S a simple quick question for you guys.

Hypothetically speaking, if there was a God would there be any doubt he would know more about physics, mathematics, biology, chemistry, etc etc than any of you? If you knew for a fact that there was a God do you still think you could explain him away with science, that of which he obviously created?

I’ll give the points to the one with the obvious right answer

Do you ever find any real contradictions in the Holy Bible?

In reading the Bible, I certainly run into things (whether they be passages or thematic concepts) that appear to contradict one another.

I am no expert. But I do consider myself a Christian.

Do you find contradictions in the Bible? If so, which ones are the most outstanding?
