"Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64 -Narrated 'Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he had sex with her when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death)."

Please give me any link (2 or 3 would be better) that would direct me to a valid English translation of the Qu'ran?

I am also seeking any explanation for marrying someone at 6years of age and consumating that marriage when the person is only 9 years old. (Any medical evidence or data would also be appreciated).

Dear "Pinks"- Thanks. I visited that link. It seemed it was from an anti-islamic viewpoint. I am seeking an actual holy book reference. And any explanations from the Islamic community.

This is a really controversial topic.....for one its not certain that she was 9 years old at the time of marriage other hadith report that she was older. I've read both sides of the argument and am uncertain as to what to believe. No matter the age, she had reached puberty. Marriages at young ages were very common during that time especially since back then your 30s were your midlife age. People died much earlier. Its hard to judge the people living in the 7th century by todays standards. I wouldn't agree with anyone marrying a girl that young today even if she had reached puberty because for me she is still a child. But back then, a girl after puberty was thought to have entered womenhood. Aisha was responsible for recording more than 200 hadith and took part in many islamic rulings. She was either much more mature than girls at that age today or she was older than the age recorded. Since there is no way to check, its kind of pointless to argue over this

Bukhari is a collection of Hadeeth, or sayings of the Prophet. You most likely will not find any reference in the Quraan. Each Hadeeth has its chain of narrators, to testify its validity. If a narrator was known to be a liar, the Hadeeth is said to be unreliable. So check it again, that is not true. It is usually mentioned near the end of the narration, being: strong, good, weak, or invalid.
Aisha was married off when she reached physical maturity. She and the Prophet consented to the marriage. This was not an unusual practice of the time, or something of the past. This trend died out with the rise of the concept of "adolescents". This was in the near past with Freud. It is not child molestation, it is due to the ignorance of our people that caused this grand misconception.

That is not in the Quran at all. It's from the "Hadith" or what are known as "Traditions". Basically, the "Hadith" are based on hearsay or a chain of "sayings" of Muhammad or his companions.

Many of the traditions pointing to Aisha's age are contradictory with other traditions that suggest her age elsewhere in the traditions. You may want to check out Wikipedia (follow the link below).

The explanation is cultural. A practice that still exists today. Am I the only cultural/moral relativist left on this website?

Hindu, Agnostic, Christian, or Islam. The answer for anybody who would consider sex with a 9 year old is 6 solid plugs in the chest from a .357 Magnum.

Unfortunately, it appears to be true. However, many Muslims tend to downplay the negative history of Muhammad (MGFHOHS). Muhammad did tell the people that he was merely an apostle - 3rd Caliph Othman is the one that deified him.

Power corrupts and absolute power absolutely corrupts.

MGFHOHS = May G-d Forgive Him Of His Sins

And Noah lived to, what 800?
And Mary had a baby, even though she was a virgin?
And Jesus brought Lazurus back from the dead?
And for an encore, came back himself?

Don't take ancient books verbatim.

Sorry, but it's not true. I'm afraid you're reading the wrong book.

It's all true...hold on.

3e. (4917) ‘A’ishah said: When we came to Medina, the women came to me when I was playing on the swing, and my hair were [sp] up to my ears. They brought me, prepared me, and decorated me. Then they brought me to the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) and he took up cohabitation with me, when I was nine.

No links. But a good rationale for child molestation.
