i'm finding it hard to accomodate my fiance's faith in God. I'm not a believer...I think i was when i was very little but that was only because i was too young to know any different. I'd never really thought too much about religion.... up until my little brother was killed thirteen years ago and ever since i have felt SO MUCH HATRED towards christianity. Especially when i speak to my rather religious fiance about it e.g. 'why did my brother have to die and why in such tragic circmstances'? and his reply is a rather abrupt ' freewill. god gives everyone freewill. it's his own doing because he chose to be there at that point.' This, as some of you might see, gets me SO angry and i wonder if he'd see things differently if it was a member of his family that was killed. my fiance comes from a very religious background and I hate everything he believes in and i'll never see his point of view am i wrong to resent him for his faith?.... he doesn't know the pain of losing a loved one...

This 'reporter monkeys' character is the same guy/girl as the following R&S regulars: hatetheist, Yu Hamagi Te, and Alotta S. I know that Yu Hamagi and hatetheist won't be a surprise to anyone, but I was suspicious of Alotta S from the start, and was rather surprised that some of my friends have been treating this Alotta S jerk as a friend.

Ok, that's all. Just wanted to let you guys know.

we assume that this life is the only thing we have, so would'nt we want to make the world a better place knowig its all we have, as opposed to christians, who would be more concerned with the afterlife than atheists? considering they have no obligation to do so, all they have to do is 'accept jesus', thats is.

If you are a Christian, do you believe soley in God and only worship Him, or do you worship Jesus too. If you worship both then do you worship the Holy Spirit? If you do worship all three then does that make them all deities? If it makes all three deities are Christians really tri-theistic rather than monotheistic?

Most great apes are...
is monogamy an invention of organized religion, artifically imposed on a species that, genetically, has most in common with the swinging bonobo? How much misery has been caused by artificially constraining our sexuality in this way?

I understand that Christians believe in Christ, but what else "qualifies" you to be a Christian? Must you be baptised? Do you need to "know Christ as you own personal savior"? Do you have to attend church regularly? Do you need to pray? Is it important to follow ALL ten commandments? Please use details in your answer.

I realize that I will have varied answers but I want to know if there are any certain criteria to be a Christian.

If an atheist on their deathbed asked you NOT to pray for them, would you honor that wish? If a dying friend of a different religion asked you to pray to their god(ess) would you?

Why or why not?
(Now don't be mean, I'm being serious)

This is what got me thinking about it:

The scenario is that George Bush is about to launch nuclear war ending life on planet earth.

I'm doing a trial for school and I'm on the side of the angels, so we're supposed to come up with a testimony and agrument from people in history (like Gandhi MLK Jr. Dalai Lama Khrushchev etc.) as to why earth should be saved.

Can anyone help me think of general points / reasons? Or even specific ones? Any bit of info would be appreciated!

When you taste the complexity of the Baked Potato, how can you not believe it is truly the best snack? How can you turn your back on it's loving tastiness?
That potato was baked for you, and you say "I'd rather have fries".

Can't you see how ignorant you are being? How can you not believe something so obvious?????

Do you think we should add the great Baked Potato to our textbooks so that everyone will know the truth????
