The folks at Family Radio believe the Final Judgment and Second Coming of Christ will be in the fall of 2011.

For example see the book “Time Has an End” on line at:
http://www.timehasanend.org/public/en_time_has_an_end_cont.html

This group, whose primary teacher is one Harold Camping, also believes the Church Age has ended in 1988 and believers are to come out of the churches as they are now under the control of malevolent forces now that the Tribulation has begun. Mr. Camping’s interpretations of the bible are highly allegorical, so let the reader beware.

See the book Time Has an End, Ch. 10:
http://www.timehasanend.org/public/en_time_has_an_end_ch10.html

That said, the online audio lectures at Family Radio, are illuminating and worth a listen:
See: http://worldwide.familyradio.org/zusa/english/connect/audio_archive/echoes/frame/download/download.html

Finally, for the offline version of the Family Radio nightly call in show, where folks ask questions about the bible to Mr. Camping, see:
http://worldwide.familyradio.org/zusa/english/connect/audio_archive/forum/frame/

I am not endorsing Family Radio’s doctrines, but one is able to learn quite a bit by listening to these materials.

No, the world will not end for at least 1000 years. Christ is going to return to resurrect Israel and will bring with him the raptured Christians who will be “grafted in” as Abraham’s seed.

I believe that there could be a great falling away from the faith if 2012 comes and goes without much happing because so many believers see this as a significant date.

However I can’t see the rapture being delayed too long given the state of the world today.

I'd be surprised if it did. People have been predicting the end of the earth for centuries. Hasn't happened yet. The 2012 is derived from the Mayan calendar and it only ends because they just ended it there. Had their cilivization lasted they probably would have added to it. Still, it's amazing the accuracy they had.

All over the web they're saying that the world is going to end in 2012. I don't know about that, but even scientist say that we don't have that much time on this earth.

Unfortunately, there are people who still believe it. Don't worry, people afterwards will say "Oh, it was a mistaken number. It was supposed to be 2021!" And then people will believe that's the new date. It's an age-old fad of astronomers.

Don't think so. Nothing been seen coming at us and it would take more years than that to completely destroy man naturally.
Those are about the only two ways that it could happen.
