Actually, any religion class I took whether in high school or college taught about Christianity too.

No offense, but as an agnostic, I knew the religious story of Christmas as early as I "knew" about Santa Claus.
Opening your mind towards other beliefs is not a bad thing, with respect. If you feel that Christianity is not taught in the curriculum, approach the teacher with the suggestion, but don't ask that it be the only thing taught. Knowledge about other religions serves to bolster your own faith and education, and should never be looked upon as a hindrance.

In the public school I went to, we learned about the history of Christianity just like we learned about the history of most other major religions. We learned about the history behind major holidays as well. We probably didn't focus so much on the current celebrations of Christian holidays because it was obvious we all knew about that already. We were taught about the origins though, just like we were taught about Jewish and Islamic holidays. We rarely spoke about Santa in school except for when we were in 1st grade and we had to make Christmas decorations in class. They allowed the very few kids of other religions to make decorations for their holidays too though.
*These were not religious study classes, they were history classes and the religion was only mentioned when it was relevant to studying the culture of a particular area and it's history/foundation.

In some school systems (those who are trying to be very pc) they teach about the Jewish people and their religion and about the Muslims and their religion because it's not a religion it's a culture. Christianity is a religion not a culture and because of the nonexistent "separation of church and state" they don't teach about the history or even mention it in school. Also they don't want to offend anyone by mentioning Christianity. Well, no one except the Christians.
They are the same schools that will display a menorah but not a nativity set because the menorah is not a religious symbol (or so they think). They are trying to be "multicultural". Pretty sad that our educators don't have a clue.

When I was a HS History teacher, I taught them about all the other major religions. Incorporated it into World History quite naturally. At the high school in our town, "World Religions" is a class for 11th-12th graders

Gee, that's funny, when I was in public school in PA, we seemed to lean about NO religions there, I guess they figured you can learn all about it at home, maybe? The only context religion came up in was history, and it was chock full of christians, since I took US history from 1865-present...

I'm not 100% sure but I'm guessing that it's not politically correct in some way or another.. The United States has gone way overboard with the PC thing.. Even being white is immoral and offensive. I guess other people of different religions would feel offended and feel as if another religion was being forced down their throats.

any world religions class I took taught about Christianity
and not only that, most world history classes taught about the history of the christian people too
so I have no idea where you are getting this "woe is me the humble christian" attitude but MAYBE the fault lies in YOUR shoddy education, not the country in general?
