I'm an agnostic, been checking out religion. Talking to some religious family and friends.

But the thing is all their proof for God's being real and the accuracy of the Bible only holds up if you already believe in God.

You can't use the 'look around you, there's the proof' thing because it's only proof of God's greatness if you believe in him and believe he created everything. It could just have easily been random chance.

I had this more coherently worked out yesterday but I got sicker overnight...

If there's something I'm missing, please tell me. I really don't have anything against the idea of the existence of some kind of deity but I need some actual proof.

Attitudes like this: "I dont deny evolution I just dont except that we humans were once monkeys swinging from trees."

Isn't it one of the major sins to be more prideful than a monkey?

if someone ask you to pray and you didn't feel it would be answered for one reason or another, would your prayer be hindered even before starting, thus causing the possibility of not receiving an answer? Should you go into prayers regardless of your personal view, with an open mind so as not to hinder the spirit of God?

I'm not asking for a debate on its legitimacy, merely the history of the idea. When did the idea of a 'Rapture' first come to be, and where? How did it evolve since then, etc.?

Was it more of a response to the industrializing and nationalizing Europe around it, or was it a natural development for Protestant Christianity?

..completely out-of-hand? What percentage never even considered it possible, and therefore denied it without giving it ANY consideration? My guess, 95%. Is this how Christians make other decisions, like who to vote for, or whether a fetus is a person? My guess, YES. But what do you think?

Or do you think Feminism killed this?
Husbands, love you wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
He who loves his wife loves himself. For no man ever hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one." - Ephesians 5:25-31..Do you think Men value and respect women more today or Less?
