nothing,
and if you didn't notice,
NONE of what is in the bible is in the history books,
you'd think that moses splitting the red sea would make it into the world history book. So we know nothing but what one book says.

Hi Mudcat..In April of 2006, The Washington Post had an article in their newspaper that stated that the National Geographic had released new information on April 6 (of the same year) that they had found one of the greatest archaeologist finds of the past century. What they had found was a genuine ancient Eygptian manuscript of the Christian apocryphal literature that is as valuable as the Dead Sea Scrolls found 60 yrs prior. They had found "The Gospel according to Judas". The Judas Gospel had been in 1000 fragments before it was recently assembled and translated, includes conversations between Jesus and His diciples about angelic hierarchies, cosmology, the underworld and creation. Now in this manuscript it claims that Judas and Jesus planned His crucifixion so that the death of Christs weak, earthly body could release His spirit to enjoy the glories of heaven.Gnostic writers produced several gospels named after the New Testament figures such as Apostle Thomas and Mary Magdalene. None have been authoritative since the Christian canon was defined in the 4th century. Now understand there are pro's and con's on whether or not this is a true manuscript by different Christian scholars and professors of this type of study. Now this 26 page manuscript was known and heard of by these such scholars but they believed that it was just heresey and wouldn't agree on it's existence. Hmmm...makes one think doesn't it?!
Now, a German scholar had come to the findings of the manuscript according to Mary Magdelana in 1896 in Cairo along with the Apocryphon of John and the Sophia of Jesus Christ. Due to the two world wars this manuscript hadn't been publisized till 1955. You can read this manuscript at this website...http://www.gnosis.org/library/marygosp.htm. Hope this has placed alittle light on your question. Have a Blessed day!

Historians would require textual evidence to draw valid conclusions about them- unfortunately there is none so from a historical viewpoint they are of very limited interest.
