Lol.

The Book of Job.

Further proof that the Bible is just filled with poorly written fiction.

Bet, no... but satan is allowed to talk to God about people... at least he was in the times of the Old Testament (ie. Job). Sometimes God uses what happens in our lives that are of satan (or of self, which sometimes is worse than satan might have come up with) to get a point across to us... but He doesn't gamble.

I believe too many people are under the mis representation that God and Satan are on equal footing. Satan is very simply another of Gods creations, the necessary creation in giving us Free will. But Satan has no more power than God has given him. So no , I don't believe they are in a contest and sit and talk or bet about things.

Satan talked God into letting satan oppress Job. By saying that if God didn't protect Job, Job would curse God. So, God proved to satan that Job wouldn't curse God, by letting satan try to convince Job to. Job was worried about his childrens sins, & that is the door satan used & satan killed Jobs children.

So, this is sort of a bet. Hate to write that though. God doesn't usually do this though. It is uncharacteristic of God. This is a time before the 10 commandments though & certainly a time before the New Covenent in Christ.

He did with Job, but i dont know if he still does it. Not too many good people like Job Left

Job 1:7 And the Lord said to the Satan, Where do you come from? And the Satan said in answer, From wandering this way and that on the earth, and walking about on it.
8 And the Lord said to the Satan, Have you taken note of my servant Job, for there is no one like him on the earth, a man without sin and upright, fearing God and keeping himself far from evil?
9 And the Satan said in answer to the Lord, Is it for nothing that Job is a god-fearing man?

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

I believe this could happen. Testing from Satan to test your faith and God allows it. Such as in Job. I believe he does this for our benefit and also for showing Satan that we can be faithful in "not seeing" miracles and physically seeing or hearing God. I think ultimately he wouldn't allow Satan to test a believer that couldn't handle that type of testing, for it is also a promise that he will never give us anything we cannot handle or overcome through faith.

He did it in the Book of Job so I would guess that he does it quite frequently.

If you believe in that sort of stuff.
