It might be safer - it would be less likely to turn on me or outgrow me.

So far, scientists and technicians (not preachers) have created robots of all sizes with some limited decision making ability, and these 'intelligences' are designed to benefit mankind. Your car is built by robots, your flour is ground by a machine controlled by a computer. I bet your watch is digital.

Curiously we do *not* require these creations to worship us and sing praises to their creators, or go to theology training on some designated day of the week. God, however, has some kind of issue about that.

Blessed be thy programming forever. Give us everlasting electricity!
Amen ---no! Reboot!

Actually--even being atheist I can sorta understand the Deists best.

If I created artifical intelligence--the POINT would be for it to survive on its own. I would create it, watch over it for a bit and make sure it can handle the world--no bugs that I need to fix. And then move on to something else.

I didn't do a good job of creating artifical intelligence if I have to sit there and watch over it constantly, waiting on it to screw up. I would prefer to have done it right, and move on to my other projects.

If I were almighty creator my creation could not live without me since I also sustain the life that I have created. Fair or not that's just the way it has to be.

It depends on how intelligent it is. If it's astronomically more intelligent than humanity then probably yes. Otherwise it might eliminate us!

I would stay away.

One day our computerized gadgets are going to consume the world.

It will be the machines raging against us.

I don't think I'd have control of it for very long, once it realized it was intelligent. I'd guess I'd just hope it didn't dislike me.

No - but I would create it so that others needed it... I think we are onto something here...
