...Jesus Himself told us that "fasting" was the gateway to prayer... Prayer without fasting is wonderful as well... it depends what you are seeking... Just fasting and praying for a new car and a Bull-dog isn't going to "cut-it"... Jesus was talking about the "things of the Spirit"... Remember, after had fasted 40 day in the wildreness... he was able to withstand "everything" the devil thru at Him... He was fully prepared...

Prayer is a form of making communications with God. It does not require anything or any commitment. Your fasting, abstinence or any other promises is a form of offering required for some observation or celebration. In early days, those were required as peace offering for the offenses or shortcomings committed by people to their God or Gods and part of it also is praying.

God answers prayers with a yes, no and wait.
The same way a jug of milk will answer your prayers.

no, but it is always a good idea to fast before presenting a petition before God.
Some forms of prayer, such as praise and thanksgiving, do not require fasting.

Not the way it says for us in the church age (now). Simply pray and believe that it will be answered. All things should be addressed to the father and in the sons name however.
