What provoked it?

On a white horse, Jesus dressed in a shining white robe. He would be wearing perhaps a crimson sash-like garment that was dark like blood. It goes from his left shoulder across his chest and under His right arm. The crimson sash goes over His white robe. Golden Breastplate of armor that is fastened around His waist with gold bands. It has gold straps over His shoulders.
The scabbard for His sword is also gold. He has His sword in his hand and will be holding it with the blade pointed up. Through the wind, and fluffy white clouds. Holy fire, flames in His eyes when He fights. And Jesus has an honor guard of army Angels with Him, they are dressed in blue robes. They're will be wearing golden belts with golden scabbard, with their golden swords in their hands, and golden sandals on their feet.

I'm a new christian and I was wondering what the significance of Palm Sunday, maundy Thursday, Holy Saturday, and so on were. I know that they all relate to Easter but I'm still pretty clueless about it. I've been a little embarrassed to ask my friends at church about it since I don't want to seem dumb.

If a person is born into a place where he is completely shut off from the outside world and never hears about god or Jesus or any of that stuff, does he get sent to Hell for not believing in Jesus? Is it like a speeding ticket, ignorance is no excuse?

Look at the link. Hundreds of people, many leaders, condemning terrorism. Why is this ignored? There was even a march in Washington last year, but not a single camera crew showed up. Why? We speak out, and those who know me here know I do it vehemently, with a passion, and with determination. I'm not a quitter, and I'll speak against it till the day Allah decides it's my time to get judged. I'm also willing to bet some of you are going to ignore this, turn around, and cry about why we don't say anything against it. Well, I'M here, and I SPEAK AGAINST IT!! MUSLIMS who are with me, state it on this question!

My ex-husband has drifted back into my life, and unfortunately, we have a big difference despite the fact we still love one another. I don't know if I can give him another chance not because I don't love him or trust him (our seperation was very complicated, no betrayals were involved), but because he is now Muslim. I am a believer in God, and I pray in my own way. I have my own spirituality. I know this may not be the "liberal PC" thing to say, but after living in Muslim lands for years, and studying Islam, being immersed in their beliefs, I do not agree with the tennants of Islam and very strongly so. In fact, to the degree, I'd choose death over conversion.

Well, he knows how I feel, and knows I am set in my ways. I don't aim to change him. He assures me he will respect my beliefs. But I have heard so many Muslim man/ non-muslim woman horror tales. I don't know what to do. He seems sincere, and I have known him for over 10 years. Any advice? My radar says: NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!

a very good friend of mine is heavily religious... however he says he is not a fervid christian, but what he has is a close relationship with God. i dont know if its going to sound awkwardly, but he says its not that he follows christianity, but he follows God. he feels it as a 1-on-1 relationship with God, not exactly christianity. i dont know if im making myself clear, but do you think you have that type of connection with God or do you follow just the religion?

Islamic history books tell that when prophet Muhammed conquered Mecca, he gave his companions the names of ten persons and ordered them to KILL those persons wherever they find them. Among those people whom prophet Muhammed ordered their KILLING was a woman with the name of Sara. The reason why prophet Muhammed wanted to KILL her was because she once went to him and asked him to give her some charity money and he gave her hoping that she might convert to Islam but she did not.

Was that a just reason for killing somebody?

O.K, Just read a question that someone asked the Christian folk. It read why do Christians bash Mormon's? I am a Mormon and I am a Christian. Is this a common misconception that Mormon's (Latter Day Saint's) aren't Christian? We also do not believe in Polygamy. Just wanted to set the record straight.

I have recently been introduced to God by my grandmother, and it was the best thing that ever happened to me! All you have to do is go to a local church, and simply ask the preacher to introduce you to the Lord. I garruntee you he or she will be thrilled you asked... See you in Heaven!

I mean, if I read Green Eggs and Ham, I can start quoting particular sections off of it and live my life telling people not to eat certain foods with certain animals in certain locations, OR I can realize that the message of the story is to not form opinions of things before I try them.

So, in context: the Bible is a collection of stories. Instead of nit-picking over 2-3 lines of text at a time (ie. those few about homosexuality, etc...) shouldn't you (and you know who you are) be more concerned in reading the WHOLE story and getting the WHOLE message? Maybe something about being nice to other people?

That makes a lot of sense to me. And yet, everyday I see people taking the Bible as completely literal because it says it is and telling other people to live their lives by what uneducated farmers and merchants thought was ethical thousands of years ago.

Have you ever thought that maybe the overall message is more important than what is said?
