I have to agree with Johnny the Atheist: it all comes down to the same argument, different belief system. Insert God into one side, and the Big Bang into the other side. Neither one could exist by modern science. What created the creator? What sparked the Big Bang? Ultimately, it's all the same thing, we just explain it in different ways.
Also, those who believe in intelligent design believe what they believe because they believe the Bible to be, if not infallible and directly the supervised and protected/unchanged word of God, then at the very least, to be a word of God only slightly altered and largely intact. Due to this, everything can be explained by the Bible. Intelligent design believers believe that God has always existed and that he created the Earth and universe because it says so in the Bible. Duh!
So, there isn't really much you can argue. If someone believes in the Bible, everything is explained pretty easily. It's true because God says it's true. Who are we to understand God? We are not meant to understand God. It says so in the Bible!
If they don't believe in God, then there needs to be a scientific explanation. And from what I've read, there isn't really a fully operational one for the Big Bang yet either. What sparked the Big Bang? How come the universe is the same temperature all across the universe? Shouldn't an explosion have hotter and cooler parts? Shouldn't the universe have cooled at different speeds?
So, there is no easy explanation. If you find one, let me know. I've been curious about what actually happened as well...

This is a good question and obviously a mystery. It takes faith to believe in something unseen or unproven. My belief is that "heaven" exists in a totally different plane of existence that is not ruled by the laws of science here on earth. So, the Designer could have always been and had no beginning and thus have no ending. I'm not discounting a Designer for the Designer, but then where does that stop? How may designer of designers would there be? It'd be the same if you split an atom, we know this as an explosion, but you still have half an atom...could you then split that and make a 1/4 of an atom...no you can't because it would explode...I think the same is true for God....He's the highest and you can't get/make anything higher (like the atom is the lowest form).

The Bible says "God is Spirit". The particular grammatical construction indicates that God, as to His essential nature, is Spirit.
We live in a material universe, and cannot assess the nature of the realm of the Spirit, as it exists outside of the universe. Actually, to be more precise, God exists outside of the universe, and the universe itself is contained in Him, although He is not contained by it. Jesus once asked Nicodemus the question " If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how shall you believe if I told you heavenly things?"
The point is, God, as a Spirit being, is completely different than and separate from the material universe with regards to His existential nature. Therefore, to try to understand Him in the context of material things, such as time (you cannot because He is eternal - without beginning or end),
location (you cannot because He is omnipresent),
ability (you cannot because He is omnipotent), intelligence (you cannot because He is omniscient) or size (you cannot because He is infinite). The fact remains nevertheless that God has disclosed Himself by revelation - the communication of otherwise unknowable facts, through the Scriptures - the collection of writings commonly referred to as the Bible; and also through illumination - the specific disclosure of Himself directly to the human spirit by the Holy Spirit of God.
Jesus said further "Truly, truly I say to you, we speak that which we know, and testify of that which we have seen; yet you do not receive our testimony."
I testify to you, that God disclosed Himself to me, over 36 years ago, when in a completely unexpected fashion, I became born again; that is, made spiritually aware of, and connected to God, through faith in the name of Jesus.
If you are interested in a scientific approach to the evidence of a Creator in the universe, I recommend the website of an astrophysicist named Hugh Ross, who is a believer. Go to

If you are interested in theological dissertations on the nature of God, I suggest you listen to the free lectures on "The attributes of God" at:

Hope that helps.

since we dont know the answer, people just say "Oh it must be god." and we probably will never know the answer, so there is no way to prove god wrong, and no way to prove hes right. People who have a closed mind believe in intelligent design.

*drink* ("who created God?")
Intelligent Design is nothing short of a farce. It's a wolf in sheep's clothing, and fortunately for those in touch with reality, the disguise is 4 sizes too small.

I'm an Atheist, but just to tip you off:
The Christians are going to ask the EXACT SAME THING about what triggered the Big Bang.

He is in another dimension, and since most scientists believe in other dimensions and parrallel universe, then this could be a possibility, outside of our dimension, outside of our dimension's rules....

You'll get some vague answers that don't mean anything such as:
"God has always been."
"God is outside the laws of nature."
