Jeremiah 10:13 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings (bārāq) with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

ָבָּרק bārāq - A masculine noun referring to lightning. Its most famous appearance is in the great theophany at Mt. Sinai when God settles on the sacred mountain amid thundering and lightning (Exo_19:16; Psa_18:14 [15]). The Exodus was accompanied by lightning as well (Psa_77:18 [19]), but this phenomenon witnesses to the presence of God in every storm (Psa_97:4). The swiftness of lightning is used to describe war chariots (Nah_2:4 [5]), while its blazing brightness describes the face of an angelic being (Dan_10:6; cf. Eze_21:10 [15], Eze_21:15 [20], Eze_21:28 [33]).

Psalms 135:7 He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings (bārāq) for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.
