Look at the link. Hundreds of people, many leaders, condemning terrorism. Why is this ignored? There was even a march in Washington last year, but not a single camera crew showed up. Why? We speak out, and those who know me here know I do it vehemently, with a passion, and with determination. I'm not a quitter, and I'll speak against it till the day Allah decides it's my time to get judged. I'm also willing to bet some of you are going to ignore this, turn around, and cry about why we don't say anything against it. Well, I'M here, and I SPEAK AGAINST IT!! MUSLIMS who are with me, state it on this question!

Honey...it's just the propaganda of the non-muslims to destroy Islam. They will try every mean they could. Like u said no journalist appear when we are speaking against terrorism .Exactly, that is what they dont wanna hear. They want the world to believe that Islam is a terror religion!
What we could do now is defend our religion here or wherever we think we could get the message across without crossing the laws!

That's pretty interesting that no camera crew showed up for the march. That just shows you how much of an impact the media has on our views of things. We are sort of at their mercy because they can sway public opinion as much by what they choose NOT to report, as what they choose to report.

Before I really knew any Muslims, I also thought that Muslims didn't speak out. But now that I know some Muslims, I realize that they do. And like you say, it's just not reported.

Thank you for being outspoken in this regard. I wish you success!

Do you know the there is a fatwa against terrorism and killing innocent people which is signed by approximately all the main scholars of religious schools(Madaras), and this was written by Mr. Hanif Jalandhary, (Head of the largest chain of islamic schools in Pakistan) and one the famous scholar of muslim world Justic(R) Mufti Taqi Usmani, Head of Dar-ul-Uloom, Karachi also condemned the terrorism in his interview with the BBC. There are many many muslims who considered terrorism wrong.

Perhaps talk is cheap. But if we do see Muslims waging jihad against these radical Islamists, or finger pointing out the terrorists living in our midst, or appearing on TV and declaring that the radical Islamists are false Muslims and do not know the Koran etc, then maybe this notion of the silent moderate may be rebutted. Point is, the mere denunciation of terrorists' acts is to be expected from ANY civil minded person. That's just the least thing to do. But it may not be sufficient.

First of all, using generalized attacks (the 'you' of your title "You say we don't speak out") does not help the cause you are promoting. Generalizations don't do things, specific people do.

Secondly, it is very likely that the 'you' to which you are referring to, is a small portion of the actual people. In any given project or endeavor, the major decisions are actually made by a relatively small number of people, who in turn pass on their decisions to others, who relay it to others, blah blah blah. The psychology of mob action is determined by a small cadre of leaders.

in other words, a cameraman is not completely an individual entity, but a member of a larger structure (news organization) and thus can be strongly influenced by what that structure allows them to do. Even if they are sympathetic or aware of something happening, circumstances may prevent them from participating, thus making them seem to be 'against' your cause.

Generalized attacks only provoke generalized attacks in return. In every conflict, there are always voices lost amid the din of shouting, but even quiet voices have a way of making themselves heard. Do not mistake the tip of the iceberg for the iceberg itself.

Ive said it before, and no doubt I'll say it again, there are fanatics in all religions, to blame all Muslims for a few who choose to mis-interpret the Qu'ran and use it to inflict pain and misery on others is a stereotype that badly needs changing. Hardly accurate.
You tell them! More poeple like you need to point out that Islam is a way of peace and love, just like christianity and buddhism and hinduism.

Proud Muslim,
This question is not for me but I had to write. I have read a number of your answers and I have never found anything that I felt bad about. You have always been a wonderful young lady on this site. I have appreciated your input here and feel that you and I are in complete agreement on the issue of terrorism.
Thanks,
Eds

Most muslims do not. But it's good to hear that some do.

Regardless, you can expect to be discriminated against for as long as Islam is the basis for the majority of terrorists in the world (which it is).

Police your own. That's all anyone asks.

Galfriend...one of my 'answers' to someone yesterday was only "well how did it go?" and was not offensive to anyone and yet someone reported it like an idiot and Yahoo actually deleted it. (Despite other silly answers getting to stay).

What I mean by that some people are idiots and aren't worth the effort and emotional investment...don't worry about what idiots think.
