"The end of the present world is already near and that the unending Kingdom of the Saints is approaching. As this same end of the world is drawing nigh, many unusual things will happen—climatic changes, terrors from heaven."

- Pope Gregory I
590 CE

People have been living in the End Times for well over a thousand years. Why do you think the end of the world is happening any time soon?

Isn't it possible to believe in a creator deity and accept evolution?

Considering that scientific theories such as evolution by natural selection can only address how life came into existence and religion seeks to address why life exists, can't the two things co-exist?

Why are creation and evolution debated as either you accept a literal interpration of the creation story (any creation story) and believe in "god"or you accept evolution ?

Why must the search for the origin of life and the quest to give life meaning be reduced to an either/or debate? Isn't possible that the "god" who created life works through the natural processes described by natural selection? Must the creation stories of the Bible or other scriptures be literally "true" in order to have meaning or can they be read as allegories and still have meaning?

You can't use the Bible otherwise that is circular argument. Why do you think it is logical to believe what you believe? Can you give me any examples?

Please, only intelligent answers. I don't need people reading passages from the Bible to me.

evolution, creationism, intelligent design etc. What does it really matter how humans began? Why should people get so divided over what are essentially all "theories" about the beginnings of life?

Why is it that both religionisters and scientists have to make it a really big deal if you believe one or the other? I'm inclined to believe in evolution myself but to me, its not that big of a deal.

Half the world is starving, yet people talk about this creationism issue like their lives depended on it! Why can't we all look forwards, to sorting out our planet, solving poverty etc, rather than look backwards at the past?

Seriously people, how we began as a species is NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL!!!

I have faced death and know there is God from this experience. (Flat lined with no pulse, hit with epinephrine and a punch to the chest to bring me out of anaphylaxsis. Up to this point I was an agnostic) plus I have seen combat where people were spared through nothing but the Act of God. Does your fear of the unknown and dispute with mortality masquerade as atheism?

Often I read answers like, "I would not risk my eternal soul making such comments against god."

This is tantamount to saying, "I would not risk having a team of pint-sized basketball players lick ketchup off my toes."

If you are not frightened by tiny, ketchup wielding athletes, try and accept that we are not frightened by the wrath of your god.

Freud stated that the human persona is made up of three main elements, the Super Ego, the Ego, and the Id.

The Super Ego is the "I should" part of people, AKA the conscience.

The Ego is where the Super Ego and Id collide, fighting for their place in waking, living reality.

The Id is the "I want" part of us, AKA desires.

Now, let's play with these concepts a little.

Super Ego has similar traits of the Crown Chakra (located just above your head), so, we can say that, in a way, the Super Ego is our connection to the Divine or Spirituality. Heaven, if you will.

The Ego has similar traits of the Heart Chakra (gee, I wonder where this one's found), which can be compared to our waking, living conscious being.

The Id has similar traits of the Root Chakra (base of the spine) which is our basics wants, needs, and, huzzah, desires. Thusly so, in Hell people are punished for their desires. So, the Id can be considered Hell.

So, in a way, Christianity could be considered -

I am NOT speaking about "ALL" who have this displayed on there avatar. I believe that this should read "Non-sense responder" or "Active Keyboard Key Striker", because at least 99.8974% of the time their responses are "Worthless, waste of time, pointless, sarcastic, childish, ignorant, rude, not even on topic, ect. I could go on.
Most of these people can not accept, debate, listen, participate, interact, or respond with some level of maturity. It's ridiculious the comments that "vomited" out of these peoples keyboards!
Are they here for a fight? Maybe to TRY and hurt others feelings? Are they even people? These people do not contribute!!! They just mash the keyboard with their palms.
If you want to "contribute", Grow up, and face the fact that other people differ from you. And not everyone is here to indulge in your games.
Do you NOT have any morals, standards? Others may, so be considerate please.
Maybe yahoo should keep better eyes on people who "Top Contribute"
What say you?

I've read the tanslation of this chapter in english:

16. Relate in the Book (the story of) Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place in the East.

17. She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects.

18. She said: "I seek refuge from thee to ((Allah)) Most Gracious: (come not near) if thou dost fear Allah."

19. He said: "Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son.

20. She said: "How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?"

21. He said: "So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, 'that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us':It is a matter (so) decreed."

22. So she conceived him, and she retired with him to a remote place.

and the whole chapter is in this link

the foilbles of human nature a point of consternation from other practices? In some the worship of self is superb (scientology) while in others the worship of the occult or of nature superb. Yet none can happen without a higher power and dogma that ensures guidelines to happiness are followed aka dogma. Thusly, doesn't the acquiesence of superior being influencing all religions point back to the existance of God? And if so, wouldn't this acceptance of God drive the will of God to have all of mankind accept Jesus as the savior throughout every religion? Show me a practice of worship that doesn't acknowledge a higher presence as a central part of its worship whether by name or identity.

Why are you still tempted by the sins of your "old" life? I know that the idea of satan means that you'll always be tempted, but why are still tempted by the specifics of your sinful life?

For example, why are drug addicts still tempted by drugs? Why are homosexuals still tempted by attractive members of the same sex? Why are liars still prone to telling lies?

Although we're all tempted, why do the sins of the old still carry over to the new? Why don't we start again with a clean slate?
