Please read my words carefully:
If you see footmark in the sand, you'll say that someone passed from here...
If you see a piece of dog sh*t on the ground, you'll say that a dog passed from here...
So what about the enormous universe, the sky, stars, planets, earth and all the beauty in it, doesn't it lead to that someone made it?!!!

Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!

Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?

My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:

Do you know how to play safe?
Non-believer's case:
If there's no God and you do all what you want in life, then nothing will happen to you after life. But if there was God and you were mistaken, then you'll blame yourself FOREVER...

Believer's case:
If there's God and I followed His commands in life, then I'll be in Heaven after life FOREVER. But if there was no God and we're mistaken, then nothing bad will happen to us after life...

Now you know how to play-safe, in case you're not convinced?

(watch the "we", you are assuming everyone believes) Since the beginning of time, man has created "higher beings" to compensate for the lack of knowledge of the things around them. Such as mythology's many gods that represented earthly actions around them that they could not explain. Through time, science has been disproving religious beliefs left and right and if you read the book Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, you will gain a little more insight on this topic. Mankind has also created religion so they have something to look forward to. Man needs a purpose in life so religion gives them that purpose, but I truly believe that those that are independent and have inner strength create their own purpose in life. There's a very smart quote I once heard somewhere (sorry I don't have the source) "God didn't create man. Man created God." I hope this helps answer your question. I have respect for all religions, me being an atheist, and I know there is no true answer when it comes to religion, but science is hard evidence and that's what it comes right down to.

Look at your house - do you know the architect? Do you know the builder? Unlikely, but you know it has an architect and you know it has a builder, anyone who said it just turned up one day out of chance would be considered unreasonable. Yet people think that it's possible for a more complex human to have appeared by chance. We believe in God, because we know we must have been created and we have a spiritual need - people who don't believe that are blind.

Weemaryanne's Top Four Reasons for the Persistence of Religion:

1) Fear of death
2) Fear of the unknown (also see 1 above)
3) Fear of social isolation (nobody wants to be the only one not in church on Sunday morning)

And last but never least
4) Greed (anything that makes so many people so emotional is certain to make money for somebody)

Most people outgrow belief in fantastic things like angels and demons. Some people hang on to their make-believe for as long as they can. Some of those people insulate themselves from reality by forming clubhouses where everyone who still believes in fanciful tales can go and talk about them and encourage one-another to remain childlike. These clubhouses are tax exempt.

May I direct you to "Why We Believe What We Believe" by Andrew Newberg. It's a fascinating look at the neurobiology of belief. Very enlightening.

My take on it is that it probably dates back to the early days of human agriculture, when the coming of the rains was literally a matter of life and death. Hedging one's bets by prayer or sacrifice, whether or not it made any real sense, would not have been senseless. There is much more on this in:

What do you mean, why do we believe in God? Not all of us do. I'm an example of someone who doesn't, commonly known as an 'atheist'.
