Jesus says in Matthew 7 (vs 15-22)

"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

Matthew 25:31-40 implies there are those who don't realize they follow Jesus, and those who think they are.

I heard of such a case where an atheist raises a child in a rural area completely seperated from religious influences and the child thought up the idea of a creato, thus converting the atheist. Until I find the source of this, it's just an urban legend.

As a non-Christian I'll tell you , I don't like being tricked. I had some dude do a big display with a chalkboard and neon lights before connecting it to Jesus, then people he planted in the crowd tried to give me flyers.

I also don't like people coming to my door. I feel that's aggressive when a stranger comes to my home and tells me what to believe. My home should be my sanctuary.

So what have you found to work best?

Honestly the evangelicals I've respected the most are people who peacefully told me what they believe (without threatening me with fire and brimstone) and listen when I tell them what I believe too.

If the Bible is infallible, by whose authority were the various books of the Bible selected in an infallible manner? By whose authority were the infallible translations made and approved?

Remember, there is no definitive collection of books in the canon of the Bible. There have been many different selections of books over the ages that have been used and approved by various human groups. Perhaps you are using the selection of books common to most Protestants, or perhaps you are using the selection favored by Roman Catholics. How do you know these are divinely approved selections? Recognizing that NONE of the original Biblical texts are available, and that each book has multiple variants from which to choose, how do you know that the translators of whatever version you prefer selected the proper variants or combinations of variantsand then properly translated them?By what authority were these decisions made and the final product approved? Are you just hoping that they got it right?

In response to an earlier question, many replied that their religion has a creator, is to do good to each other, has a concept of sowing and reaping, etc...

How can Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and others have the same basic concepts, yet we all fight with one another at this physical level?
