Teach them that Kermit is.... Satan? Make them scared of the frog? Then they won't listen...

Isn't that what some theists do?

not an atheist, but as an agnostic, i converted to a religion that accepts both atheist and agnostic beliefs (judaism) to protect my kids. truly, people like him and their "church buses" are why i first looked into converting! of course, it is a religion that means so much more to me than that now, ( i wouldn't have gone through with the conversion process if it wasn't) but i live in a small town in the south where people like him are the majority, and after trying to be agnostic with no label and being constantly preached to by people like that, i really believe that labels are the only protection. truly that hasn't even been a fool proof plan, sometimes they still tell my kids that they want to save them from hell, but i do feel like my kids (4 and 6) have a lot more confidence about telling them that they don't believe in hell or jesus than i did even as a teenager, and i know they will never feel the need to try to believe or pretend they believe like i did. i have friends who are not part of any religion and they seem to have a lot more problems than we do with people trying to convert their kids (invites to church, etc.). still i don't think their kids will fall for tricks when they grow up. i am sure that it will be your open mind rather than kermit's (and those like him) closed one that makes the lasting impression.

take care.

Since kids normally do the opposite of what they are asked to do, it might be a good idea to encourage them to meet Kermit. This trick works in most cases.

Kermit is awesome! Sesame Street was a staple in my house when I was little, and I didn't turn out too badly, did I? :p

You can't. Just teach them to be tolerant of all beliefs, even if the people seem crazy. They'll learn to smile and walk away.
