Well studies and surveys have demonstrated that atheists are the most hated, distrusted and discriminated minority in America. We are considered a bigger threat to the country than terrorists (I am not exaggerating), we are also the the minority that parents are least likely to let their children marry.
Despite there being over 30 million atheists in the United States, most of them have to be quiet about it or they'll be shunned by friends and family, ostracized from their communities, fired from their jobs, and so on. Even the media hates atheists (Did you see the CNN special where they talked about atheist discrimination and their "panel" was just 3 christians talking crap about atheists). We really do have it the worst.
Christians get upset when 10 commandments are removed from the courthouses and they hate separation of freedom of speech. Sorry but do some research on the founding fathers and read some of their letters, journals, documents, etc. They were deists creating a secular government. They disliked christianity and specifically wanted to keep it out of government.
Yahoo answers is a lot different since nobody here actually knows each other... it's all totally anonymous and it's a way for atheists to vent the frustration and voice the feelings they have to keep secret for fear of persecution. That's likely why you see so many atheists on here.

In the UK religion is a non issue- I've never known anyone to be harassed for their beliefs. On Yahoo answers evangelical Christians are rightly harassed although I prefer to think of it as being aggressively and systematically hunted down and subjected to an intellectual pounding rather than plain harassment.

ISLAM...because faiths act like the hypocrite terrorists speak for all Islam. there is a non violent and a violent side to Islam. there are hypocrites in every religion. i think there is a vast majority of religions too that have done there share of killing one time or another upon history. i just thought i add that in because every time i say that the person will throw back "yeah but we're not killing...this n that as if they conveniently forgot their own history. i'm not going to call out any specific faith.they know who they are. yet they can conveniently call Islam out as if there faith has always been innocent. i oppose the terrorist...God will give them their day. i can't wait for when all those bashers see when good Muslims are choosen to enter Heaven. what will those basher say then...NOTHING...

In Life - people who aren't Christians, this is not saying that they are not people of faith, but that they simply do not believe the way that everyone else does. I live in a Bible Belt area, and this is more evident in my city.
On Yahoo Answers - it's equal opportunity hate.

People of faith don't have ideas they have dogma and belief, so I guess it's got to be atheists who get harassed most about their ideas and opinions.

It's actually more of an American thing. Of course there the fundies like to assume that they're the ones getting harassed and they 'just can't imagine' it happening to atheists.
Through most, if not all, of Europe, it just doesn't matter. People leave each other to themselves.

Atheists get the brunt of it all. Most people tend to leave Christians alone because its the largest religion ( i think). Jewish people and Muslims have it hard to, not that some Christians don't, but for the most part I think Christians have it the easiest.

I think it depends on where you are. Here in Texas being an atheist is TOUGH. Its best to just not mention it. I imagine that being a muslim in the US is very hard these days. I m really sympathetic to them, as I know people judge them badly for the actions of a few.

I don't think that's a fair question. People of faith FAR out number Atheists. So their percentage of harrassment would be manifold. You can't discount Atheists just because they are a minority.
