If there was no apostasy in the Church of Jesus Christ, then what happened to prophets? They were a crucial part of the original Church. Some Christians claim that there was no need for prophets after the coming of Jesus Christ. This is a terribly misinformed belief, for the New Testament clearly and repeatedly reports that prophets and prophecy were integral parts of the original Church of Jesus Christ after Christ had ascended to heaven. For example, consider Acts 13:1-3.

the words of wisdom came from the lds church...much from spiritual revelations and prayers for answers.. read all of daniel chapter 1. 8 ¶ But Daniel apurposed in his heart that he would not bdefile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the cwine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
9 Now God had brought Daniel into afavour and btender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
10 And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I afear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces bworse liking than the children which are of your csort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.11 Then said Daniel to aMelzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
12 Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us apulse to eat, and water to drink.
13 Then let our acountenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants. 14 So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.
16 Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.
17 ¶ As for these four children, God gave them aknowledge and skill in all blearning and wisdom: and Daniel had cunderstanding in all dvisions and dreams.
18 Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar19 And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the amagicians and astrologers that were in all his realm

where in the bible does it state that christians are put on the earth to control the non-believing mass? i dont ever recall reading that... (if u cant find a verse that says this, why protest it? why not whine about it in your little church groups and leave it at that?)

In other words, can one have conscious awareness without sense organs, nerves, a brain to process and interpret the input, and a living body to support all of the above?

If so, how is consciousness without a biology possible?

I think they present a fascinating possible look into Jesus' life and teachings. His private teachings were different from his public teachings. It can also provide a glimpse of the possible travels of Jesus during the 19 years the canonical Gospels omit. I think he travelled to other countries, possibly finding out about other religions during this time.

I also think it is interesting how the Gnostic texts have come to light only in the last 100 years, almost as if they were waiting for the right time of enlightenment to be discovered. I follow the Bible, but I believe there is wisdom to be found in the Gnostic gospels as well.

What do you think? Conservative Christians, I know what you think, so this is directed at Moderates and Liberals.

Would a humble person go around saying only their religion is right?

Or would they have faith inside but not go around saying that and insulting people, only explaining what they believe after someone asks because they are such a wonderful happy person people will want to know?

Is it that you don't have that peaceful spiritual glow that makes people ask what you believe, so you feel you'll just force it on them?

I can see how peop might get confused (with soul sleep) with the passages that describe the death of our physical bodies as "sleep". I began to realize however, more than ever, that the passage of Luke 16:19-31 (Lazarus and the rich man) completely debunks the whole notion of soul sleep with one shot. In the passage it talks of people in the afterlife who are completely awake, concious and aware of what is going on. This all at the same time that the rich man obviously still has loved ones residing on the earth. As some try to write this account off as only a parable and not a true story, which I say it is, they need to consider and ask themselves why Jesus never mentions any main characters by name in any of his "other" parables but in this account he mentions Lazarus by name. Furthermore, if it were indeed only a parable, and soul sleep were true, why would Jesus intentionally confuse or mislead his listeners by telling a theologically incorrect story of the afterlife that talks about its characters in the past tense (obviously before the resurrection)?

Genuine question.....

Was there an increase in the applications for the priesthood in Ireland as a result of the 'Father Ted' comedy programme?

The series made it look like an idyllic life (yes, i know it may not have been 100% accurate) but i would be interested to know.

Many thanks in advance.

ps There is one true God, whatever name you may call him, in my humble opinion.

You may have read in the USA Today yesterday (isn't that funny to say!) that the current culture in the United States is as biblically illiterate as ever.

Since a LOT of parents are leading their kids down the wrong path, what are we going to do to help the next generation? If they aren't doing their jobs, do we have to do it for them?

I wouldn't mind putting the worst of these kids in foster homes, but since that just isn't going to happen, how can we get our school to develop strong Christian programs?

It's amazing. We let some people in this country to spread the lies of muhammyd, buddha and the like. I mean gosh, some parents will tell their kids all sorts of tall tales about the likes of Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, their great Grandfather. But they won't give them true details about how God created himself in the form of man, sacrificed his life for us, ascending up to the heavens, and spoke as an angel to the prostitute Mary!

Since we have to help with the parenting obviously, how can we go about doing this?

There is a notion put forth by Christian cults and even entertained by mainstream Christians that Christ might not have really died on a cross but instead He was possibly crucified on a stake or on an "X". I believe these theories, especially the stake one, are quickly laid to rest when we read Matthew 27:37-

"ABOVE HIS HEAD they placed the written charge against him" - not above his hands, which would be above his head on this stake.

How could this not indicate a death on the (traditionally known) cross?

2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the fcorruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
