Would a humble person go around saying only their religion is right?
Or would they have faith inside but not go around saying that and insulting people, only explaining what they believe after someone asks because they are such a wonderful happy person people will want to know?
Is it that you don't have that peaceful spiritual glow that makes people ask what you believe, so you feel you'll just force it on them?

**Those of you that are humble, please realize this doesn't apply to you. I love and respect you if you sincerely follow Christ's teachings, and I'm sure you love and respect me too, as Jesus would.

BTW, I didn't wake up angry. The Christians in question helped that along.

Ellie, I'm sad to say that a couple answers show they don't seem to. But isn't seeing our own faults one of the most difficult things in life?

You bring up a valid question I've often thought myself.I'm interested to know what my brothers & sisters in Christ have to say for this appalling behavior and if they see it in themselves?

How many of us are humble? Not nearly enough. But being a Christian means to humbly realize that there is not one thing that i can do to make myself a "more acceptable" person to God. I am a sinner and need to humble myself before the cross of Christ, asking Him to come into my life as my Saviour. Without Him I am condemned.
You say that we go around saying "only our religion is right." Well, if we take Jesus at His word that He is "the Way, the Truth and the Light. No one comes to the Father but through Him: doesn't that sound exclusive to you? It seems pretty definitive to me.
I don't say that you are not a good person and try to do the best that you can to help others living the best life that you can. I am saying that, according to Jesus' own words, that is not going to get you into heaven. I can't help it if this offends you.
Consistently I hear people saying that they don't care what people believe as long as they just don't try to force it down someone else's throat. Does this adage apply to atheists and secular humists as well? I find the idea of aborting little babies extremely offensive but my tax dollars go to support this activity and there is nothing I can do about it. I believe that evolution is an unproven hypothesis but it gets pushed down the throats of my children and grandchildren. And it's getting to the point now that Christians aren't even allowed to speak the name of Jesus without being attacked.
That's ok. That's what I expect and what Jesus said would happen - "If they hated Me they will hate you also." But please don't tell me to shut up. I have as much right to free speach as you do and I plan to excercise it. And as far as "not forcing opinions on other" all I can say is, "take the plank out of your own eye before you take the speck out of mine."
I hope this helps. :-)

I have a peace that surpasses all understanding. I do not go around insulting. I prayerfully teach in love, but if the truth insults them its the Lord's Word that is insulting (convicting) to those that hear. I am content, but not always happy. But the peace I have allows me to go through the day knowing that one day there will be a glorious day of rest if I am faithful until death. Jesus was humble AND right. It is Him that we are to obey and say is right. I love your soul and pray that you'd go to Heaven as the Lord doesn't want any to perish.

Well, considering that pride is the root of most sins in some sense, it is totally understandable that humility is one of the most difficult attributes to walk in consistantly. I've been in the church for 29 years, and I can only think of a handful of people that I would describe as humble as the first quality I'd think of.
And to your statement that our religion is the only way being not humble, well, Jesus said it, not us, so that can't count against us humans. We are just repeating what He told us.

being humble is directed toward God and His word. so yes a humble christian would go around saying that its right. no different than Jesus and the first disciples did.
its really no different than atheists going around saying that evolution is right.
so i dont understand why there is a distinction made when it comes to what christians say... as if they were the only group doing it.
christians dont have any intent to insult anyone. just as you dont have intent to insult the christians who read your question.
in the arena of what people believe. if all parties have freedom to speak, then how can it be looked upon as the christian view being forced upon anyone?

Jesus commanded that I judge no one, including any religion. Jesus revealed to me many truths. And I ask, why me?
And the answer being to share that which was given to me with all nations, and languages.
But it was told to me that they would not believe, as they believe not the Lord, the Living Word of God, when he first told of these things.
But I must endure until the end, I must spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ as written, to labour in the field. until the time of the blessings are fulfilled

Being humble is nothing but acknowledging the Truth. If the Truth is that a person's religion is the right one then it is certainly humble because we all know that we did not make it the right one but, God did. I am speaking of the Catholic Church.

Were I to say I was humble, I would no longer be humble.
But I do present an air of humbleness that does not impose my beliefs on others until they ask what I believe. At that point they have granted me permission to speak regarding my beliefs.
So I guess I would say that I have that peaceful glow you reference.

Humility has nothing to do with the truth. If someone had something wonderful, the first thing to do is to share with others. That's what spreading the good word is all about--sharing. No one can force a religion on another.

I am too humble to answer this question???? oops i answered. it didnt I.
And yes Jesus is the only way to salavation. If that bothers you and insults you the so be it. The truth shall set you free!! If you accept the truth. If not truth can offend you. Does this offend you? If yes then you dont like the truth.

Hello Happy
A humble person will not whallow in their religion... but they may simply be following their creator's desire in sharing the love and message that He intended for them to share.
ps
sometimes I have a peaceful spiritual "glow" but sometimes I'm alittle crotchety (I'm human you know) :)
